nizm0zed Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 As the topic states, can the guards (pretty much just the rears) be cut and welded without the flares being present? I have a set on the way, but i have this sinking feeling that they arent going to turn up in time before the brown log hits the fan. While im sure it'd be possible to do it with a billion and 1 measurements, i dont think i have access to them. Am i tempting fate if i try to do the rears before i actually have the flares to mark against the body? Its pretty much the cutting and welding of the lip that i need to do, the mounting holes can wait till they arrive. Advice??? Quote
handsandwhich Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 I think it could be done without having them but saying that, I would not attempt it without having them if that makes any sense. I still have the metal pieces that I cut out of my guards so I could give you a few measurements if you want to go down that route. I think your best chance would be to ask if someone near you has a set they let you try one to mark out. Quote
Retro Z Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Alan are you in Melbourne (locations have dissapeared )?? If so your welcome to borrow mine Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Im in canberra.... I had a good look at Roberto's project thread, it details how to put the flares on with some nice pics. I kinda think i have scared myself away from trying it... :-\ Its very permanent. Quote
nizm0zed Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 lol, love it how things work out... Got home to find a postage tag on the door, looks like my flares arrived. Tomorrow will be 'flare day' (and not in the awesome 70's stonewash denim style) Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 You MUST have the flares to cut the arches, Alan. IIRC it's around 75mm from the wheel arch to the top of the flare... Quote
