Bluegti Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Hey guys, looks like I am no longer building a Z due to unemployment. Hence I how have this fantastic wing up for grabs. It is brand spanking new, never assembled or painted. Originally I paid around $450 for it, and as you can see on this yellow Z, which is not mine, they look kick ass on the Z's. Will ship to anywhere in the world at your expense. Please feel free to sms sensible offers and/or any questions to 0411 597 239 Quote
Scando Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Can you give us some more details? Do you know if there's anywhere on the net where I can find wind tunnel test results on it from the manufacturer? Quote
Bluegti Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 No idea. I think if you want wind tunnel tested products you will pay 1000s. Not the $200ish Im after. Quote
Bluegti Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Besides that it would have to be wind tunnel tested and adjusted for the car it goes on, and adjusted from there. Quote
Agno Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 From where I'm sitting it looks like a C-West GT Wing II. A bit of googling might be able to provide you with some wind tunnel info. Or the seller could provide the actual model (if known) and take the guess work out of it. Quote

I found this info here: http://www.c-westusa.com/labs/fudo1_rx7spec.asp But maybe it's a copy of some description? Anyhow, might still be interested if you can provide me some info on who makes it and the model, etc. Quote
Bluegti Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 There are too many variables to consider to "rate" a wing that is not installed on the vehicle. I looked at that link and its a great selling tool. In reality everything from the type of car to the mounting will significantly alter the performance. eg. Might work great set to the ideal position on the back of a 240s.. but it will perform like sh|t mounter to the bonnet of a 120y (noted this is an extreme example) The only true way to know what its doing is to set it and tune it on the car like any other part. On the box it has: MARS 3DI 144CM Carbon Fiber Rear GT Spoiler Wing Thats the whole deal guys. I cant tell you anything else. I bought it for the looks, and if any performance was gained.. great. However I dont think it would look the best on my turbo GTI For the money, no one can complain. Quote
Scando Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 With wings like that, as long as you can mount it high, away from the boot/hatch, then the car its mounted on has less effect, especially on a car like a 240Z which slopes away gently from the roof line. If it's mounted too low then the low pressure zone under the wing which reduces lift also creates a low pressure zone above the boot/hatch and has the opposite effect, increasing lift. Also, the further you can get it back helps because this keeps the low pressure zone behind the car rather than above the boot/hatch. I found this for anyone that might be interested. http://www.marsperformance.com/html/MARS-3DI-144CM-Carbon-Fiber-Rear-GT-Spoiler-Wing.html From the website, I'd say you're right, definitely just a cosmetic part so I'll give it a miss. lol, could just see it on the Swift! Actually I think I've seen something similar before! Quote
Bluegti Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 bump its going on ebay $200 buy it now Quote
Topstage Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I dont understand some ppl, for $200 expecting wind tunnel results. Btw it will be irrelevant anyway coz all wings has to be custom fitted to each car for it to work at optimum performance. We offer wind tunnel testing from $2800.00+gst and setup fee. Quote
jamo240 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I think it looks like great value for $200...but surely you would tune it for looks over performance....if it produces any significant down force it will dent the hatch sheetmetal, which is not a structural panel. It's not my cup of tea as an old fart, but as a young bloke I would have loved one of them! Jamo Quote

Exactly what I tried to say to people above. I am sure you would get some gains by attaching it. But really would only see a gain over 160km/hr.. basically for looks Quote
