Quick question, can you still buy replacement internal parts for the 280ZX electronic distributors? namely the "stator"? The one I have is missing a few bits.

The bigger one of these two things.

Just wanted to know before I go and start harassing my local parts place

;) Try "Geek Parts" USA. A lot cheaper than over here even with their postage costs. They have the magnet unit that fits under stator also.

Hey guys,

I'm having a fair bit of trouble with my dizzy, but in a 260z, 1976 2+2.

I took it to a mechanic, and he fixed it up a little for me but he said i need a new breaker/base plate assembly because one of those side holes for the ball bearings has broken and the bearing is jammed in, siezing it.

So I'm basically wondering now after looking on rockauto.com, if the 280z distributor is the same as mine because they don't list one for the 260 from 1976?

Also if there is something else I should consider? maybe a full distributor assembly? would that be cheaper?

Then I was wondering if there is something all together that I can just replace this type of distributor with for more reliability and cost efficiency?

I hope that isn't all too much to ask! haha

Thanks guys!

::) G'day mate , sorry for the late response but the part that is broken is the unit that helps to assist with the vacuum advance unit  it's common with all zeds. SxlSushi imprted some  almnm brkr plate alternatives from the States but claimed they were xpnsve however if you buy the originals from Japan they are twice the cost & you will eventually get the same problem. You can get re-built dissie's from the States but getting them shipped over is XPNSVE , bloody postage mob. I'm still mucking round with making a plate up that should work hopefully, just finding time to  do it properly is the problem.

Sorry for the delayed response but when I was looking at my dizzy reco, I spoke to Stewart Wilkins who suggested a Bosch dizzy out of a 6 banger XD-XF Falcon is his suggested replacement. He can machine them to fit but once you have spent the initial outlay (around $500 from memory) any future parts and repairs are cheap in comparison with Datto parts.

I didn't go with this option but thought I would pass the info on.

Good luck

Mick
