mossy Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I've got a 70 series 1 240z but have found it virtually impossible to get a decent series 1 hatch with the vents so I'm going with the good 260z hatch i have, I was possibly going to be cutting the vent holes into the 260 hatch, trying to think of another way to cut the holes other than an angle grinder as I want it to be neat, any ideas? Riceburner Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Hey Mossy, can you fit the vents without cutting the holes? The cars aren't very air tight at all so it shouldn't pressurize when closing doors, it's also less chance of rusting out the hatch down the track. Quote
Patch Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 There is a good series 1 hatch included with this 71 z on ebay which is the wrong hatch for this car, maybe worth contacting him for a swap, # is there. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1971-Datsun-240z-1001-/110800080495?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item19cc330e6f Quote

I was thinking of that Gareth, just attaching the vents with no holes but wasn't sure if i would pop a window out if i slammed a door without somewhere for the pressure to escape, I can always test that option and cut a vent later if it doesn't work. I think I'm going to give up with more hatches Patch as I've already stripped 3 series 1 hatches with no luck Quote
Ledge Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 HI mossy Think it would be better to have the vent holes there, I would have thought Nissan would have done a bit of research back in the day. If you need measurements for the hole position i can measure mine and let you know Regards Paul Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 1, 2012 Moderators Posted January 1, 2012 You could also swap the skin of the hatch; that is, later frame with an early vented skin? Quote

You could also swap the skin of the hatch; that is, later frame with an early vented skin? Thats pretty much the problem though Dimitri, all of the vented skins I've come across are in bad shape, I'll stick with the 260 hatch and look at cutting some vents in, I love the look of the vents on the hatch so i've got to have them on there either way.
