saxon Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Hi guys, I'm about to upgrade my exhaust for a couple of reasons. It is by far the lowest part of my car, so I need to tuck it up to lower my car further, increase performance, and improve the look. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEC09/15-6030 I really like the look of these twice pipes. However, the mufflers look really small. I want to have a nice sound but don't want to attract any extra attention from the police. Has anyone heard these go? Are they super loud? Thanks, Hamish Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 28, 2011 Moderators Posted December 28, 2011 By the looks of them, they would be quite loud without a big resonator in the middle of the system. Also, they aren't a complete twin system as they use a header that goes from 3-2-1 then back to a twin. I'm sure there's youtube videos of them running so you can get an idea. My system runs twin 2" from the headers which go from 3-2 then stay twin at the header flange where the rest of the system bolts onto. Great on the track but suffers some reversion at around 3-3500 rpm (hesitates?). Probably go back to a good 2.5" single when I have the funds. Quote
Ben Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Twice-pipes are a period upgrade, but they are loud. They _will_ attract attention! It's hard to make an NA in-line 6 free flowing but quiet. Unless you install a rotary-muffler, or turbocharger - however you like to describe them Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 28, 2011 Administrators Posted December 28, 2011 My Dual Exhuast set up is very very loud It only has small resonators like those pictured on that website. If you were going to go with a system like that you might want to have some form of mid-pipe (that could be removed for track days?). I personally love it loud, but it can attract the wrong sort of attention. Although I've had blokes pull up next to me and tell me it sounds insane . Yes I run a risk of being pulled over and told to get it tested etc.. but I have a quiet system that bolts right on for that sort of thing. Quote
saxon Posted December 28, 2011 Author Posted December 28, 2011 Thanks guys. Nice sound Gav. Yeah I think I'll go for this set up and I can keep my old one in case I get any trouble. Thanks! Quote
zed240au Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 We did a system similar to this on a eb 6 cyl falcon club car system was 3 into 2 extractors then twin 2" pipes all the way to back of car we ran two 24" hotdogs Car was noisy but fine for a club car Guy claimed it gave him 2.5 seconds drop in lap around symons plains so as u can guess he was wrapped Mick Quote
