Hi does any one know if I can install a retractable (inertia) seat belts to a 240z

You'll need to check up on the rules for your state. The work will need to be certified with certified Aus-made belts.

Such an upgrade is on my bucket list for my 260 2-seater as well. As a starting point, doing same on my early Mustang fastback involved installing extra mounting points into the chassis  structure back behind the seats for the retractor reels to bolt to; far enough back to ensure no interference with seat adjustments & geometrically aligned to allow the retractors to function properly (so the belts spool smoothly - the belts run vertically up to the roof rails from there). So each retractable seatbelt 'set' has 4 mounting points rather than 3 for fixed lap/sash belts.

However, shop around for belts - I have seen better looking retractors than those used on my car, important if they going to be exposed to view.

I have a set ie driver and passenger, of Britax brand generic stalked receptor retractable seat belts for sale, brand new, in boxes, Aus Design certified

$150 the pair.

 

Or a set of 260 coupe original belts, full set no fading, these are the ones with the bit that the belt loops through at ypur shoulder, that has thw lng vertical stalk, that bolts to the top and bottom at quarter window, just behind the B pillar. These are in excellent cond at $150 the pair

 

.? Does ypur 240 shell have the threaded holes thete, or a single threaded hole, just below and behind the B pillar?

 

Either of the above may be used, depends!

MSA do a full bolt in kit, don't know about the legals though.
