saxon Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hi all, I'm after a wooden 240z 5 speed shifter knob, like the one pictured below: I found them on ebay, but before forking out $140 of my hard earned moneys, I'm wondering if anyone has seen them anywhere at a better price, or a similar alternative? Cheers! Hamish Quote
Sirpent Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Read Adam's build thread, The Brown Hornet !! We went through this knob issue start of 2011, and Adam reproduced one, the one you pictured dosnt have the OEM insert. I have one left however. Quote
luvemfast Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 So you'd consider paying $140 for that? Quote
saxon Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 Call me crazy but there's something I love about this gear knob. It just has this simple and classic feel to it. Some of the MSA are okay, but I feel strongly drawn to this one, so for that reason I am considering paying up for it... Had a look at Adam's build, I'd probably prefer to get the knob complete as I want it, cause then I'd have to go looking around for a face piece that I like, and that would probably take longer. fluegel Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I turned my own from a piece of black walnut . I still had the original enamelled change pattern disk to stick in place. Any wood turner should be able to make one for not much money. Quote
saxon Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 Oooo you dedicated your first post to my query. Thanks! I'd be interested to see how it turned out, throw up a picture some time. I won't be going that route though cause I've told my gf I want it as a Christmas pressy. Thanks! Hamish Quote
