well, yes they do 'bolt up'and cyl spacing is ok,

-however there are problems with the rear oil gallery lining up

-water ports all over the head are troublesome ie rb=long, l=short little ones.

-also the cam drive mechanisme needs to be changed/adapted/altered, ie belt/chain.

-also the rb head would require water port/radiator/thermostat positioning issues.

have looked into the twincam variants previosly but untill i have plenty of time on my hands not going to attempt it.

easier way to do would be get an lseries headgasket ontp of the rb head and mark out all oil, water etc galleries and take to a head reconditioner, weld up and die grind to suit, (may have to run an external oil line back to sump/turbo etc etc).

any more info just ask, getting a lil tired.

Nato is correct they do bolt up as do RB25DE head etc but again the many many issues. This has been done to death all over the internet on different forums.

look when i get time, alot of time,

i will do up stencils to give to any reputable engine builder to allow them to easily weld up/grind etc to 'meld'the 2 together.

problem is come time to replace one or the other!!! (work all over again)

These stencils will be a meeting between the rb and l-series heads as the water ports on rb's are like a crescent and the l's just an oblong hole slightly rounded, so somewhere in the middle grond.

However it is just as easy to pop a complet rb engine in anyways.

Im pretty sure you can grab an rb25de non turbs and do a legal conversion!!, then just build it up to the turbo spec and mantain the DE engine #'s and hand over that to the piggas' only thing is this would be ok for SA but having roadworthys etc would probly kill it!
