saxon Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Hi all, I'm in the market looking for a 240 or 260z. I have made similar posts in my introduction thread, but I think I should also make a post here, just incase some people don't really pay attention to that part of the forum. I have been looking for about a month now, I've seen pretty much every 240 and 260 on carsales in Victoria, advertised on this site, and have inquired about other interstate. They are all too far from what I want and will be too expensive to get them there. What I'm saying is, I have a firm finger on the pulse of carsales and ebay so don't need help looking around there. But I'm hoping an owner thinking about selling and with a car similar to what I want stumbles across this and gives me a PM Here's what I'm after: No or only very minor Rust Roadworthy and Mechanically sound Engine - running well, Adjustable coilovers, lowered, camber adjustable Bolt on Flares (preferably cut underneath) Original Interior or bucket seats, black upholstery, black diamond vinyl BRE spoiler Airdam Fender mirrors 9-10 inch wheels What I'm not interested in/won't add (much) value to the car in my eyes: Race mods Horsepower Things that the classic crowd is after (matching numbers, car maintained to original standards) Good/original condition interior that is not black and paint which is dark blue or green (want red, orange, white, or light blue) If only I was around looking a while ago, I would have taken Toecutters in a heartbeat, and at a higher price than he was asking. Willing to pay up to 19k for a car close to what I'm after. Low 20's for anything fitting the bill exactly. So if your wife is nagging you to get rid of that zed, let me know, I got a good home waiting for it! Cheers, Saxon Quote
Sirpent Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Saxon The car you are after and the price you are willing to pay sounds like Nacks car, he had it advertised here some months ago and I can personally vouch having inspected it for a QLD forum member that its a very clean unit, Nacks (James) and I dont have any affiliation so dont think that Im plugging it for personal reasons. I can say that is was on par with Toecutters car which I also saw up close at Lurch's prior to its sale. Cheers John Quote
saxon Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 :s yeah its very nice. Is a beautiful car no doubt about it. Went like a rocket. Very clean. Am considering it, but holding out for something closer. As I mentioned, I don't put much value on race/performance mods, and that's a big bunch of what I'd be paying for with his car. Pushes it out of my budget. Would still need to buy dishy wide wheels, redo interior in black, spoiler and flares and differerent airdam, fix the paint bubbles - thats estimate +8,000 at least (toecutters already had most of that, and went for less). Would prefer to make sacrifices on the performance and get it looking how I like it, rather than get a race track beast that I never race and never looks how I want cause I run out of money. Quote
zr240 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I might need some cash soon maybe i should sell you mine? Might be too much a race car though? Ash Quote
saxon Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Hey dude, thanks for letting me know you might be interested in selling your car. Yeah it's lookin a bit racey for me. I definitely won't be racing my car, and that's what it looks like you've build your car to excel at, so I wouldn't be able to offer you a fair price for it. Cheers, Hamish Quote
luvemfast Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Hamish, while it's good that you know what you want. And here it comes...... Even though you think it's a generous budget, as it is a lot of money. To get a car that you can hop in and drive away happy? Sorry, but I don't like your chances IMHO. Even Revs car that Kobes now owns, which is close to what you want, went for more than your figures stated. And don't forget that car, aswell as Toecutters, sold quite a while ago now and they have appreciated since then. But, another example. The Z that sold at the Shannons auction for $10k, Could be modified to your requirements within your budget. If you are prepared to join most of us and take on a project. At least you can enjoy the car, while upgrading as you go. Just my 2cents. Quote
zr240 Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Its not the one in my avatar But still its probably not in the budget anyway Ash Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 12, 2011 Moderators Posted July 12, 2011 Well said Simon...couldn't agree more. The chances of finding your dream zed with all the mods you wish for / want are pretty slim being so specific. With all the previous zeds I've had, think of them as blank slates, ready to be made into something you want. 3/4 of the fun is modifying your zed the way you want. I'd be trying to find the zed with the best chassis and most complete in detail before anything else. If you're patient enough to wait for the right car to come along, I commend you.. Quote
luvemfast Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 That's also a good point Dimitri. If my car was "finished". I'd get a little bored and probably sell it and get another. Kind of like what Rev did that time, oh and the other time, hang on... Don't forget that one too, wait, one more. Until, the current one. You get the point. It's all about the journey, not the destination. (Is that an ad or am I a genius?) Quote
zedevan Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Sounds like you should buy my car...should be able to get it to be exactly what you want for around 19k 11.5k for my car with it 'stock' (fender mirrors, rims, stock headlights and diff) 2.5k paint job - your choice of colour 1k interior (to make it black with stock seats) 2k engine rebuild 2k coilovers ...just saying Quote
saxon Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks for responses guys. I know I'm being really really specific haha but I'm just trying to cast the net out as far as I can and see what comes up. - Looking at a pretty ratty car around the 10k which I think is fair price for a roadworthy but in desperate need of love kind of car. It's at the top of my list atm, because of affordability, so yes willing to take on a project so I can fit all I want into my budget. Will be 10k + wheels and tires 4k + coilovers 2k + spoilers and flares 1k + paint and minor rust removal 3k + interior 2k = 22k car of my dreams. And as you say, the journey will probably make it more like it is my car and it'll feel special. I'll wait a bit longer, see if there's a good deal out there, like a rev, or a toecutter that simply has to sell a gem of a car. If not I'll get a rat car and join you all on a build - Rev's car is something special. Very nice attention to detail everywhere. Understandably went for more than my budget. - Zedevan I'll give you a call Cheers guys, Saxon Quote
lightmaster240z Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 It safe ;)but for the price anythink can be sold ask the Rev Quote
saxon Posted July 14, 2011 Author Posted July 14, 2011 CAR PURCHASED!!!! I have made a deal to buy a car, it's being dropped off on Saturday morning! :D :D :D :D :D I've had a really hard past few days, several people have contacted me to see if I'm interested in their cars and given me what look to be fair deals. Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 14, 2011 Moderators Posted July 14, 2011 Hmm..I wonder who has given up their zed? Quote
saxon Posted July 17, 2011 Author Posted July 17, 2011 In the end, did a deal with someone from carsales, no one from this forum. It'd only been there a few weeks. I've decided to take on a project and go from scratch. See it here if interested! http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,9585.0.html Quote
