Also what is the best way to clean the carb bodies up? Is the best way to get them looking good just to paint them silver? Quote

As far as cleaning them up, comes down to what equipment you have access to. What about carby cleaner and a toothbrush? Quote
d3c0y Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 I've been pretty careful with it so hoping it wont be bent. I have a service manual and yeah i remember how it goes together and i have another 2 there for reference. It's not really the complicated. I did another bad thing taking them apart though, i nicked the edges of the throttle plates but i think i can clean them up with sandpaper. The best thing so for has been Hondabrite degreeser (Honda motorcycle cleaner). Soak over night and everything comes up like new. I ran out though and sounds like getting more will be the next priority. I've been dremelling them with a wire wheel and will probably ended up painting the carbs with silver enamel paint because the cast alloy finish is pretty crappy. I've ended up with 3 incomplete rebuild kits - mainly the pump gasket stuff so ill reassemble them and order what im missing. For the record carb cleaner and a tooth brush hasn't been hardcore enough. Carbs have been sitting for around 15 years. Quote

d3c0y Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 I'm just trying to scam my friend's last bottle, all the bolts that soak in it come up like new. I did the end of my clutch hose and various parts like that which were pretty much black with crap and started corroding. Quote
