C.A.R. Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Many thanks to everyone who came together today. It really drives home that fact that we are such a strong 'family'. RIP Kyle - I'll miss you mate :'( Quote
zzzzed Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I am glad the day went well. I would have loved to be there Quote
Sirpent Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Todays service came at a tragic cost, and the realisation of what this forum represents only drove that home. I spoke to a few of the members in attendance and a number of stories emerged in private chat about a range of issues we have individually faced or are currently facing, on top of that I was taken aback by the number of members who approached me personally and enquired about my family and project many of which I had never spoken to face to face. This was the case with Kyle also, we chatted off forum a few times but never met and I felt it only right to attend today as this was my only and last chance to conect with him in some small way. I know this forum is low key as far as its members only communicating via the web in many instances, and I also appreciate that so many registered members and visitors only sit back in the shadows and follow threads posted on it, and it's today more than ever that I appreciated the depth of commradeship this site bestows upon us. Kyle's passing was tragic not just from the point of view that such a young life passed away but because as on this occasion it was a tragedy of great magnitude that brought us all together off grid and in reality, I asked myself driving home without a clutch after it nuked itself as I was pulling up to the wake, what will become of this forum in years to come ? what friendships may never be as we drift in and out of these cyber hallways ? It saddened me to think that with such a high patronage of registered members this forum may never be more than what it is now, that would be tragic, so I made a promise to myself that I would actively start attending more of the social events here on in and I would urge any of the casual readers of the forum to step forward, with Z or Zedless and take advantage not just of the wealth of knowledge this site offers but also of the mateship. I hope this hasnt detracted from Kyles moment, but after listening to his father today telling us about how his car and this forum brought some happiness to him I think that in the end maybe he gave us a parting gift today afterall.
