luvemfast Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Just picked up a heap of goodies from one of dads old racing buddies. Can probably officially let the cat out of the bag, a few know of my plans, but I now have in my possesion a project that started over 20 years ago but never got finished. RB26 head on an L series block. Yes you read right. There are so many great ideas that have gone into this and more that need to be done. I will start a build thread all on its own when I get cracking. But bear in mind this is a long term project for me, so it will be slow to get it on the road/track. The plan was simple, back in the late 80's, to get more power and be more competitive in racing class, the originator wanted to use the 432 principle. He figured that he would be able to get it through a loop hole from the S20. I can go into it further on the build thread, but the target was basically a twin cam, 4 valve with 3 carb/throttle bodies producing 380hp @ 9,500rpm. There is still lots of engineering left to do and I'm looking forwards to sinking my teeth into it. PS-Do 260Z struts fit a 240Z? Think I will need to buy an S30 to utelise the parts. Simon Quote
KatoKid Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Mmmm!! Sounds very interesting, just the sort of stuff I like. Will be watching this one. Good luck Simon. Quote
DatPilot Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 If you need anything 3D modelled in CAD let me know, I'll donate a weeks worth of work as I know its a good cause! This would be a whole lot of awesome.... Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted November 5, 2010 Moderators Posted November 5, 2010 Anything is possible and would be great to see...just depends how many dollars you throw at it (or what good friends you have!). Quote
luvemfast Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Anything is possible and would be great to see...just depends how many dollars you throw at it (or what good friends you have!). This was started in 1987 with the help of Howard Marsden when he was the head of Nissan Mororsport. But work ceased due to private matters and it was put to the side with no more drive to finish it. This has already had lots of $$,$$$ spent already, built by an engineering tradie. Now passed onto me as another skilled tradie with the ability to finish it (I hope) Parts were bought brand new when the GTR first came out! I have lots of tidying up to do in the garage to make room and start a mock up assembly before pics can be put up. I will be open to ideas on way of doing things too as there are parts available now that weren't available back then. This will blow your freakin mind! Quote
benny Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 will be over soon to suss it all out!! :D Quote
luvemfast Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Going to spend some time in the garage tonight to tidy it up before I unload everything, its starting to get a bit "unrully" I will also need to get another engine stand for the mock up while I also do some more "standard" L28's. There is an "O"ringed block 2mm oversized in there too. But the RB monZter will be in a diesel block as its 15mm taller, giving more mechanical advantage for the longer and higher set conrods (yet to be done). Quote
