has anyone used the bosch platinum 4 plugs on their z car before? the technology sounds good but is it just a gimmick? (i think at the local super cheap normal plugs are around $20 for 6 and the bosch 4 plugs are about $55 for a pack of 4?). I was just wondering if any difference was noticeable just in general running, cold start and maintainence etc.

I don't mind buying the best for Nigels ex baby :)

I have just put a set in my 240z,

I ran with them down at Phillip Island.

Pulled them out to check them and there is no visible sign of wear or pitting etc. So far so good.

I can't say I noticed any measurable performance improvement.

cheers

Conventional (collective) wisdom over the past 35 years has indicated that NGK plugs as OEM perform the best in a L series engine.

A search on any zed forum should confirm this, I've used NGK since '77.

Gotta agree with Zedrally. My 240 only uses NGK's the only thing we alter is maybe the heat rating for the plug.

The other advantage of the NGK's is price.

Hmm - that technology sounds interesting but is nothing new - splitfire has a twin tip version of spark plug ... Might upgrade to these on my MR2 just for the hell of it - cant really see them improving the performance of road engine, race engines would benefit though...
