Brabham Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Hi guys, does anyone know if 260z 2+2s originally came with one key that fit all the locks or did they have different keys for the ignition, fuel filler and glovebox. On my 2+2 my ignition key is different from my fuel filler. This is a problem since I only got the ignition key with the car. Wondering if I should get the car re-keyed with same key fits everything or if the fuel filler originally had a different key I could always get one made to fit it. Just wondering what they did from factory. Cheers. Quote
Riceburner Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 All locks are the same on my 240z and 77 260z 2+2 parts car. Try ebay, it may be cheaper to buy a new set instead of getting a locksmith to rekey 35yr old locks that might play up in 6mnths time. I have seen some on ebay from thailand, but there build quality is questionable on some items (window rubbers). Quote
sexual_sushi Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 On my 240 and 260 they are definitely different but the 240 has been restored and the 260 is full of random parts so they mightn't be a good guide... Quote
Johnboy Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I have been to 3 locksmiths here in Melbourne, and have been told i can't get matching keys all around.. But haven't given up yet. If you find a way I'd be interested in hearing about how/where you get this done. John Quote
gilltech Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 One key for the ignition, & a second key for the doors, hatch, gas flap & glovebox. Are two different styles of key. Quote
RB30X Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I got a set of the ones like are on ebay at the moment but through the actual company that makes them and I asked for ignition, 3 x door locks and a fuel filler flap all keyed alike. I hoped that some locksmith mob would be able to fit the barrel from the spare one into the boot release one. Quote
