p_walkerden Posted September 11, 2010 Author Posted September 11, 2010 Or does any one know a good garage thats done it before and willing to do again? Quote
FLEXZED Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 mine should be ready in bout 12months ;D ;D ;D Quote
garvice Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 12 months, gees oldZman that is a quick one, HA! I have my 26 in, but it has turned into a long turn project now, I reckon by the time it is ready my son will steal it off of me (he is only 6weeks old, HA). p_walkerden, Castlemain rod shop sell mount kits for the RB motors (may also do transmission mounts) or you could make them yourself like I have done, you also will have to change out the sump to a rear version (RD28 sump will work with some mods and an external pickup) and lower the nose of the diff a little to get the driveline angles better aligned. My front cut was over 4k, then there is intercooler/piping/computer and a good 10k in parts to rebuild the engine (new crank or crank mods for the oil drive, rings, springs/retainers, cams etc). Then you will want better brakes etc. It becomes a pretty expensive exercise to do it yourself. There was recently (within the last year) a nice looking white 260z with I believe an RB30DET in it for sale, so if your patient they do come up from time to time. Quote
sco_aus Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 How bout RB25? Ill always consider selling for the right price... Quote
Brabham Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Yep I think there are about 5-10 260Z RBs in Aus plus one 1JZTE. They come up about once a year for sale. I want one too!!! Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 i make the ounts to put the rb 20 & 25's in, 26 are a lil different, but can be made too, mines in and mounted, doing sump now, and then electrics. can do again much quicker now mounts are done and sump nearly done also. have the detail to re-produce quickly. CRS mounts sit the motor a bit too high and off centre i have heard, hence i made my own, and their cheaper.... i have access to an rb26 to measure up as its only on emount which differs.... nat0 Quote
aidannn Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 i think the main problem with finding an rbZ is that owners which have gone through that level of heart/headaches will be hard pressed to want to part with their cars. Quote
DatPilot Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Theres a feller in Syd, Nick (nixcars) he once mentioned a RB conversion to be about $8000 drive in drive out. that was for a bog stock RB25det. was 3 years ago though..... Quote
RBZ 260 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 mine prob be ready in 2 years but u will have to save big kudos. even than i prob still say no. though may be tempted to do one for someone for reasonable price once mine is finished and sorted. Quote
