nomisg Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Have been searching the boards and the web to find the clubs I can look to join in Adelaide. I have seen the following : http://www.nissandatsuncarclubsa.com/ I this the only option in Adelaide for a 240z owner? I want to keep to the following rules http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Transport,+travel+and+motoring/Motoring/Vehicles+and+registration/Motor+vehicle+types+and+specifications/Historic+and+left-hand+drive+vehicles and hence I need to get to know the "authorised official of the recognised motor vehicle club" before I start jumping in and get a 240z that may be to modified? Mr Camouflage Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Yeah but its a website, not a "real" car club. Quote
stevo_gj Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 I think the OP was looking for a registered car club, not a forum. Quote

I have seen the following : http://www.nissandatsuncarclubsa.com/ I this the only option in Adelaide for a 240z owner? The Nissan Datsun club is a great place to start, they have regular meetings and run their own motorkhana's etc and have an active membership but I don't believe they are a registered club with Transport SA for the historic vehicle scheme. Try the Sporting Car Club of SA www.sportingcarclubsa.org.au not the cheapest club in town but they are registered for historic vehicle rego. To comply with this scheme your car will need to be stock standard ie original engine etc or they will knock you back. They would not allow my otherwise standard 240z to be registered with an L28. J.B. Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm not so sure about the modification thing... A mate and I looked at starting a Japanese Nostalgic Car club in SA (he's got a RX3 coupe). We went and had a few chats with people down at Transport SA. Basically, they allow clubs that are published in the Government Gazette; meaning you need to be a registered association (costs and paperwork associated with that) and applying members need to be financial members of that recognised club. But once you are a 'registered club' in this fashion, the club secretary can then issue approved log books to club members and verify the days the car was driven (generally using the club stamp in the log book). As long as the car is not driven more than 90 days in a calendar year and this is verified by the club secretary, it will will qualify for historic rego (subject to build dates) As my Zed is off the road, I haven't really pushed the idea further. If their is support for a registered club, I'm happy to get involved. I'll continue the topic on the http://www.thezgarage.com Quote
