Z Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 To the forum! I need driver and passenger side door glass in top notch condition if anyone does not want the ones they have (sounds strange even typing it)! This is a tuffie... I have tried three contacts in the US, two have got back to me with with a no go for new door glass (Comon the third!), I called the Mothership and they stopped stocking glass ages ago, the closer you get to the finish line the harder it gets?!!! If you have any ideas on how I can get this part of the car done to "as best as possible" I'd welcome your advice. Cheers, Z Quote
C.A.R. Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Neil Roshier, Editor of 'Race' magazine had a new windscreen made for his very rare Rochdale Olymic by a company in QLD. Might be worth an email? Quote
NZeder Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I recall reading a post on hybridz.org from a guy who worked for an auto glass manufacture in the USA. He stated he was thinking of making side/door glass for his 240z and was looking for interest to see if a market existed. You want to search the hybridz forum and shoot him a pm. Let us know how you get on. Quote
Z Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Cheers very much for the ideas Lurch & NZeder, I will chase up those leads next week. The third guy in the states has got back saying he can't supply new - that's a good ole fashioned "Strike Three" on new glass from the US. Makes me wonder how we are going to go in the future getting replacements after some idiot smashes in for your coins etc etc. Huge thank you to Galderi for having a passenger side, champion! Hope my two door glasses make good moulds buddy. So I'm still after a drivers side if anyone is in the enviable position to have a spare drivers glass, there's good $ in it:) Anyway, I'll post what I find about getting glass made and if some 2nd hand glass comes out of the states. Brabham Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 If you are willing to go perspex ausplasfab can make some up. I believe the site is ausplasfab.com.au. Cheers. Quote
Z Posted July 18, 2010 Author Posted July 18, 2010 I will definately look to perspex if some good glass can't be found. Thanks Brabham I'll keep their details. Don't spose anyone knows if 260z glass (either 2+2 or coupe) will fit a 71 240z, may be able to increase my chances a little... Quote
C.A.R. Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Nope - later 240Z, 260Z & 2+2 are very different Quote
Brabham Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Or there is Carlo at sportsclassic cars in Sydney, he may be able to ship. Think it is sportsclassic.com.au. He may have original glass. Quote
