Hey guys I was wondering if you could tell me from experience what rust is a total nightmare to fix.

I am willing to to cut and weld panels and even chassis rails at a pinch. But if I am looking out for a car is there any thing that I should avoid at all costs. Thanks guys.

Hey big fella, (I'm not coming onto you, thats your name)

I've found that orange rust is usually hard to fix, although I have seen some red and brown rust before and that looked hard to fix as well.

No rust would be better, but there are a lot of replacement panels for certain sections.

cheers

Yeah I kind get that. I figuring if you are going to take it on its all pretty bad. Just thought they may be spots that don't make it worth repairing. But I guess you don't get much worse than floor pans and the seem to get fixed all the time.

There's pretty much a rust patch panel for any of the common trouble spots, thanks to the amount of cars sold in the USA.

I expect the hardest part to fix is the under battery area, since there's not a repair patch for that area.  Other places (floors, rails, sills) are tricky to fix, but at least there are replacement panels available.

In the roof where the hatch hinges. Multiple layered panels and not much room to work.

I also agree with hatch and floors and battery tray and well any rust haha.

Wheel arches not much fun either (previous owner had cut....exposing to elements).....not so much getting out but getting new metal to fit....and look right.

agree with battery tray comment.

No experience with hatch but one of the more common areas.

p.s. one thing that we did, all panels that came off (door skins, hatch, etc) got a galvanising after we had blasted....hoping to make the car slightly more resistant in the long run.
