sexual_sushi Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 So I was at the Gold Coast over the weekend for a freinds bday party and her Dad backed out of the driveway and clipped the front of my car Luckily the damage isn't too bad, bit of a scuff on the front bumper and a deep graze and slight dent in the hood. He has insurance so everything should be sweet. I took it suprisingly well. I suppose it's because it can easily be fixed and while I'm at it I will get some rust fixed in the guard, the large stone chip that has been on the headlight bucket since I got the car and I'll respray the front spoiler which is littered with stone chips. I had a funny feeling that something was going to happen to it that day... I'll upload some pics once my hangover goes away Quote
sexual_sushi Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 I think I'll try Gasoline Alley for the repair work... Quote
peter t Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Should have got him to hit it harder and got all that rust fixed. Sorry mate just had to be a smart a@S E. Quote
PZG302 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I think I'll try Gasoline Alley for the repair work... Shaun, don't be suprised if John isn't real interested he has more work than you can poke a stick at the moment. However mention that Matt with the Charger put you onto him and see how you go. It might take a while but the boys their will do a brilliant job. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Haha no worries Peter Yeah I'll still take those parts. I could maybe swing around next weekend? Or any, no rush really. Ahh thats no good Matt, I'll go in there and have a chat this week, see what they say. Quote
Z Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 After all of the work, time, thought and money gone into our cars, for you to be so calm about the matter is fantastic... I was leaning on the drivers fender to see if the shockies were fine, and put a dent in it... wanted to beat myself up! Quote
garvice Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Damn that sucks. Wonder how you will take it once the hangover wears off and you can see clearly. HA! Quote
kalium Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Shaun, don't be suprised if John isn't real interested he has more work than you can poke a stick at the moment. Yep, I tried them a few months ago and they weren't interested. :-( Quote
garvice Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Come on Shaun, get the quotes, take the money and pay your dad to do it. Quote
. Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Come on Shaun, get the quotes, take the money and pay your dad to do it. Mate, I'm sure I can match that colour, Banana yellow right? Bring it around and we'll do it on my back yard.......You won't notice the inclusions I promise Quote
sexual_sushi Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Haha Greg, will you charge extra for the grass clippings in the top coat? Haha I don't think Dad's work is quite up to par with old yella. Shouldn't complain though, I do get free rust repairs when he isn't too busy So I went to Gasoline Alley this morning and they didn't sound too keen when I mentioned 'old Datsun' and 'insurance'. Had a bit of a chat and he was coming around, then he saw it... waiting on the quote now haha. Very glad that a shop with a decent rep should be working on it. Also getting a quote to fix: Stone chip in front headlight cone Rust in Front guard Respray stone chips in front spoiler Fix crack on lead join on roof Rust spot in beaver/slam panel Quote

sexual_sushi Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Doesn't look that bad in that photo. It's a bit worse than it appears, but definitely not the worse thing that could have happened. Quote
Zeddophile Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Must be a Doozie of a Hangover. Lol - I missed this one, good call. Doesn't look that bad in that photo. It's a bit worse than it appears, but definitely not the worse thing that could have happened. Looks like one of those ones where you scream out "Bugger fuck shit." and then go oh well, it had to happen someday. I have something similar on the front of the GF's '98 Alfa GTV6. Had the car for 2 weeks, and someone backed into the bonnet while I was inside the lunch shop for literally 60 seconds (walk in, grab drink from fridge, pay, walk straight out). Probably in a trayback ute, the metal flap they mount the tailights on looks a good candidate for the two marks it left and there was one parked in front of me when I went to drive off. He probably never even felt hitting it, as the bonnet is composite fibre (covers the headlights as well, its basically the whole front of the car) and the damage small as from a very light impact. One corner of the light frame has taken a nick out of the paint near the middle, about 5mm in length. Looks like a big stone chip, and I'd probably not have noticed that for ages. However, there are two holes in the bonnet either side that the headlights shine through, and there is quite a decent chunk taken out of the corner of one of those. Which stands out like anything, because the exposed composite fibre is white, and the car is red. Looks like a birdshit, which is exactly what I thought it was when I looked back at the car while walking away from parking it at work. Especially since there hadn't been any white mark there 30mins earlier when I walked out of the house, looking cheerfully at our new car, and I was pretty sure I hadn't driven into anything on the way to work! Closer inspection caused the above phrase (or something to that effect) to ring out rather loudly. Followed by another when I realised that I drove away from the car that probably did it without noticing - ergo, no insurance claim. So, the GTV is still missing a chunk out of its bonnet Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 12, 2010 Author Posted July 12, 2010 Went down to Gasoline Alley today to get some progress pics. Should be done by the end of the week apparently. Here are some damge shots before I took it down: And some progress shots: And some other toys they had there.... Quote
