John Joubert Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Just a quick hello to all. Glad to find this site and hope some of you can help me out. Ive finally reached semi retirement and have always promised myself that I do up a project car . Ive always loved the 260Z's from my youth (well as a young man anyway)and would love some info on availability of cars worth restoring, bugs to look for ,models that may be more desirable and what Id expect to pay for such a project base.Im tooled up with all i need and a fair knowledge of motors as a marine engineer. Anyway look forward to reading what ever you can add JJ Quote
sco_aus Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Welcome JJ. Its never to late to love a zed . As for things to look out for in them, the best advice is to use the search tool for the forum. It has been covered heaps of times before and you will learn lots about these great rusty cars of ours . Scott Quote
MaygZ Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 G'day JJ, Welcome. In a word 'RUST'. Other than that they seem pretty solid. Oh, and driver's side window winders. MaygZ Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 24, 2010 Moderators Posted April 24, 2010 Another Welcome! You'll find these cars are pretty robust and can handle some abuse.. Just make sure the car you choose has a nice square "minimal rust" chassis. Small amounts come standard and are easy to repair. Bent chassis aren't. It all depends on what your budget is like.. Quote
. Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Where are you? Its worth getting together with some locals to get some inspiration. Make sure you have an absolute end goal in mind or you will find yourself wasting money by doing things twice. (eg L series rebuild then changing your mind and going with an RB turbo route) Also for any work you do have to farm out, do it in the smallest possible chunks. It minimises the risk of cost blow out and delays by the shop. When you start your project check the us parts sites.....they are your friend Blackdragon and Motorsport Auto are two good ones. Quote
