Hey guys, I'm replacing hoses on my L28 engine but i can't read the size on the hose, it runs paralell with the block below the spark plugs, then into fitting that goes to the heater. Is it 5/8 heater hose?  ???

I've made 5/8ths fit.

From memory one end (front of block) is a larger fitting, and requires angry faces, random swear words and hot water to make it fit.

There is probably some adaptor to do it properly though.

I have a screw in reducer on the front of the block so i believe it's the same size as the rear. Thanks twosixty, I'm good at angry faces and random swear words  >:( ;D  Hey Dimitri what does IIRC stand for?  :-[

On my 260Z it was 5/8 one end and 3/4 the other. I ended up getting a Ford heater hose with exactly those required measurements but mine was an L26. Lynton 8)

Hey guys,

I know this is an old thread - and have been doing a lil bit of research so excuse it if this has been answered.

I have an L28 in a 76 260 2+2. The heater hoses going into the firewall connections are perished and the connections are corroded and gone.

1st Q: THe replacement piece by Warren of Allzed - this seems correct but I can't verify for sure.

The connection on the firewall end of the block are also gone however this is a screw in piece -

2nd Q: I assume I can get one off an old 280ZX?

The connection on the fan end/near the thermostat is ok - but according to this thread different end connection sizes? I pulled the hose off an meausred it but because of the age it is difficult to get a good reading.

3rd Q and relating to this thread: Can I just get a 3/4" hose?

Final Q: I have seen Salco kits for the main rad hoses pop up from time to time, but on their site their is no Z part listed. Any comments on this?

Would be looking to buy any and all these components if you have them lying around. IN other news, the car runs so nicely now (Just the cooling system needs to be addressed, it has only just failed).

Cheers,

I don't need a heater - Can I just run the hose straight from the outlet firewall side back into the T near the pump?

Ofcourse you can!!Just run a single hose from the front lower outlet to a 90Degree fitting at rear of head.
