I see this Zed has come up, auto with no air though!!

http://www.classicthrottleshop.com/car14.html

This particular Z for sale appears to have modified carbies & air filters & airbox & oil breather pipe, a chromium grille, missing the plastic fusible link cover but has an original drivers door mirror, an excellent example and original uncracked dashboard by the looks of it!!

I haven't seen an example like that for a while. Its a shame its not manual and aircon otherwise i'm sure it would be perfect. Although it is in that 70's brown that many understandably don't love, but it is an original colour and car, apart from those points mentioned.

They are out there.

Purchased mine 6 months ago and its pretty much the same as Lynton's.... 77 2+2, metallic blue, white interior, 5 spd and air con. Its very original and more importantly came with original rego plates, owners manual and documentation. Its had a repaint some time ago which wasn't great and no doubt hides some rust in a few areas like dog legs but otherwise its pretty good.  The only thing missing is the air con condenser for some reason....hasn't had an accident in the front so no clue as to why. It has been fitted with 240 round top carbs and extractors but I'm not concerned as flat tops and cast manifold are easy to find.

I wanted a 2+2 as Ive got a young daughter and wanted to have a car we all could enjoy. Since buying the 2+2 Ive come across an early 240 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6400.0.html that has taken priority so the 2+2 is a weekend driver that I will keep as original as possible.

Good luck with the hunt.

Well the luggage rack on the coupe had adjustable slide/width 'L' brackets, so no screw/bolt holes, it was an aftermarket accessory I purchased that the dealer was keen to move, but it was never actually functionally used, I purchased it and the car from John Roxborough Motors in South Melbourne.........no longer there now!

Glad there were no screws - I must admit I don't know why but I've always like the look of these boot/trunk racks be it on a 60's Mustang Coupe, MGB "Sports Car", 50's Corvette etc.

Thanks for the link.

That 260Z 2+2 does indeed look beautiful.

I don't mind the exterior brown colour and of course the black interior is fine, but I think this would have looked better if ordered 'back in the day' with the off white/beige interior.

Again I'm sorry but I'm just not interested in buying a automatic 260Z 2+2.

Curious to know from astute 260Z 2+2 forum members, as to whether they think the $18k asking price is on the money for the current market?

My 260Z I purchased, I still visit the original lady owner (an old friend now) when I am down visiting in Melbourne.

Fantastic !

I do the same with my original owners of my classic cars. Even the ones from the California USA ('68 Mustang).  They love to hear from me.

There was an original 260Z in NSW at the Nationals 2005 and I kid you not a perfect example if you could get onto this car I am sure it is one you would kill for? I have attached photos.

Oh my goodness I want it !!!

This is what I would have ordered 'back in the day'.

I just love off white/beige interiors !  I think pretty well any exterior colour, other than white, compliments an off white/beige interior.

Black interiors are also pretty complimentary but hot especially if vinyl seats.

Each of my RX3's have different coloured original interiors.

One is white, one is black and one is orange/tan.

The only coloured which I don't have which was offered for the RX3 was a brown interior - which I personally don't think looks that great. No surprises there as I stated earlier that I didn't want a brown interior 260Z 2+2.

Thanks again for the reply and giving me your time.

Don't mind the brown exterior - in my opinion this would have been bought new by an older person choosing that exterior colour along with it being an auto.

All in all a very tidy 260Z 2+2 example.

Do you think it well priced?

Ah finally some hope of finding what I'm after !  Thank you for the encouragement. Wanna sell the 260Z 2+2 so you can finish off the 240Z?  Love the light blue with off white/beige interior.

Can I ask where you found the 260Z 2+2 as I if you bought it 6 months ago I obviously missed this one ? Was it a word of mouth sale not advertised, maybe eBay? etc

Also how long were you looking before you found it?

I know it's cheeky of me to ask but would love to know a ball park figure to the purchase price.

Thanks for posting too.

Unfortunately not for sale! While there is little doubt regarding the increasing value of early 240's I can see a time when 2+2's will be nearly as desireable/collectable, especially if its original and got all the fruit.

Car was advertised on carsales.com for quite a few months, PO had many lookers but no one ready to come up with the what he was asking, to the point that he had taken it off the market due to the frustration of dealing with tyre kickers. I had been looking for over 12 months and paid $10K which I know is over the odds but it was too good to pass up and I'm sure it will be a good investment.

Yes I agree with your assessment of where prices for these 260Z 2+2 are heading, along with all original classic cars. As they say that ain't makin' any more land and they ain't makin' any more Datsun 260Z 2+2's. For me it will be a bonus if it rises signifcantly - as this is not my primary purpose for buying the car - I like to drive them and feel like I'm back in the 70's.

Carsales.com.au - that's egg on my face. I must have missed that one. Where was the car located?

I think $10k for what you describe is fair for both parties.

If you change your mine on selling please let me know :)

I think the brown 260Z 2+2 at the Throttle Shop is pretty much on the money although if it were me I would have tried to secure $20K and perhaps sold at $18K they are rare, especially in good condition even without all the frills of Air/FM.AM radio/cassette!

The Coupe versus 2+2 does not come into it, "Classic" does ;)

The other thing is this, like me we are all getting older, so one can only be a custodian of a vehicle for so long, a few times I have considered selling my car (I don't really use it, currently sitting in the garage as normal with a flat battery) but I am not sure the money value provides any satisfaction in selling the car, it is more the personal nostalgic experience associated with these cars, selling it is a bit like losing a family member to overseas country? However me being much older now, nostalgia seems of less importance in the physical sense of actually owning and having the vehicle sitting in the garage gathering dust. I am sure there must be many people like me wondering and thinking of moving their vehicles on as we baby boomers move out of the work force or they will get rid of their modern car and hang onto the classic to use as a daily driver. There must have been a lot of the 2+2s in light blue metallic #305 with white interiors. This is my favorite color combo and what I would have ordered back in the day, only difference is I would have gone for the 2-seater in retrospect, they are also lighter. I can completely understand the dislike of autos- I can't stand the damn things, why buy a sports car with an auto? (No offence-I bought one myself ;D - the body condition was just too good plus I rescued it from being parted out!!!) Out of interest, would you forego the a/c as it adds weight and Aus climate is usually pretty temperate - plus it saps some of your power and extra fuel! Cheers.
