dat2kman Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Owned by John McKeon this is the ex Lex Greenhalgh Red and Yellow lightweight marque sports early 240 shell, CAMS logbooked, Throttle body injections, Autronic ECU, C/R gearbox, has 12 rims some wets, car only $22k, and with it's trailer $25K Complete turnkey runner. To rplace this and go racing will cost, well double as some of you are finding out! I have raced this car for John on a few occaisons, it is tight, well sorted, and very responsive. it is located on the Gold Coast. I am placing this here for him as he is travelling Australia by motrbike ATM! Quote
. Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Ba ha ha ha ha. I am sure he will return to a missing race car and a friend with a fat wallet. I'm totally joking of course, I am sure he is aware it up for sale. I hope it finds a good home.....somewhere local. Quote
dat2kman Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Galderdi, I am deeply offended by your inference that I will have a fat wallet. As you already know my wallet is fat enough already, I cant fit anymore in!! NZeder, yes this is a very good buy price, especially when one looks at all the work involved in putting together a complete ready to race package. John asked me ( profesional ??race?? driver??) to drive this a while back, at Queensland Raceway national circuit, I knew his past qualifying times and race results, and went out and just tooled around in practice and qualifiying, and was surprised to set faster times than the owner! Subsequently in races this car gave very good results, against a mish mash of v8 engined sports sedans/touring cars and other sports cars. It is very pleasant to drive, and well setup suspension wise, with plenty of stump pulling mumbo. ( i get nothing out of this, John asked me as a mate to list it here, but I'll try and hit him up a sellers fee!!!) At 2005 Speed On Tweed Street event, I was running my Datsun Sports 2000 alongside, and was placed 9th outright, to Johns Z at 8th outright for the two day meet. ( on the first day I was placed 2nd outright fastest) recent Nissan Datsun Nationals, same story, This Z placed in top ten outrgiht fastest. PM me for his contact details etc, and you MUST tell him I sent ya! Quote
PZG302 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I know this car quite well, having raced against it in Sydney when first built and owned by Lex Greenhalgh. It is a very quick car and the motor was pretty much a no dollars spared build when done originally. It was good for around 1:48's and maybe even a 1:46 around Eastern Creek back in '97/98when Lex had it and John has fixed alot of the problems the car had when originally built in terms of reliability. It would be a great buy for someone who wants to quick pretty cheap and not be scared as it a pretty forgiving car handling wise. And I definately have no interest in this other than to see it goes to a good home, hopefully not in Qld so I can get my car back to one of the fastest, if not the fastest, up North Quote
PZG302 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Whats the chasis build number? If you're thinking of returning it to the road, don't....If it's like mine an engineer will just laugh at you. Quote
GV260 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 No, I'm just curious given the listing said it was an early 240 shell. Quote
PZG302 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Wouldn't have a clue on the number, just know the car was built when Zeds were pretty cheap to get a hold of to build into a race car and that wouldn't have been a concern when the car was put togteher. Quote
dat2kman Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Someone from Perth WA should buy this, and keep it away from us here on the Eastern side of Australia PZG302 will be happy then. i dont car, I only race in prod sports/Group S !! Quote
PZG302 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 I've been threatened with death from SWMBO if I even think about ringing to ask about thinking of having a look to even consider whether or not I would be shot if I went ahead and though about buying it...... :o I would love to buy it and turn mine into an absolute weapon, but I can't sleep with one eye open and already have too many toys according to some..... dat2kman Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 Man up you are getting a shed. Fill it, if too full, BUILD IT BIGGER eneways I can store your shotgun for a while! Dont think, just do it. Only unregisterd road unusable race cars are real toys, tell her that, I do, and ATM you only have one, you have to keep up with the rest of us now! Quote
PZG302 Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 With the Chugger about to eat up another $15k I can't do it.......both financially and for my own personal safety Quote
LexGreen Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Only supposed weakness this car had at the end was it had too much horsepower for the box/c;utch and twelve inch slick combo and I note john has put a crash bix in it now. Motor was bullet proof thru to 7,500 rpm. 42's at Eastern creek as well and in it's hey day was the fastest zed rolling around. Finished third in it's best season in the NSW series. Cheers Lex Quote

PZG302 Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 John, As per first post...... Owned by John McKeon this is the ex Lex Greenhalgh Red and Yellow lightweight marque sports early 240 shell, CAMS logbooked, Throttle body injections, Autronic ECU, C/R gearbox, has 12 rims some wets, car only $22k, and with it's trailer $25K Complete turnkey runner. To rplace this and go racing will cost, well double as some of you are finding out! I have raced this car for John on a few occaisons, it is tight, well sorted, and very responsive. it is located on the Gold Coast. Car is log booked as a 2B Marque Sports car. Will run with production Sports cars or other category 2 sports cars. The engine is a L series built originally by Stewert Wilkins and from memory is a 3.1 stroker, not sure when last freshened up though and power should be around 220-250hp at the wheels, again going from memory when I raced against it. best to pm Dat2kman for more info, or pm me and I can forward his number, he may still be on holidays for the next couple of weeks. I' don't know John Mckewon's contact details so I can't help there. My only connection to the car is I used to race against it back in NSW and it was an absolute weapon, the only thing that let it down in the year I won the NSW Marqu Sports Championship was reliability, mainly gearboxes, but John has sorted most of that now and it has been a very reliable car over the last few years when I have seen it go around. dat2kman Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 car currently has a Nissan Option box in it, Has not done much work in last year, had new Michelin radila slicks fitted approx 18 months ago. Jon 9 vandieman) give Johhny Mckeon a ring direct on 0407 781 846 and ask him all you want to know about. It is a nice grunty full on race car, and in the hands of someone who knows how to peddle a car well, is a very moorish car to drive. You just dont want to stop doing laps. leave a message for him, as he is on tour, I think???. I am in Brisbane, the car is at John McK's place at back of nerang on the Gold Coast. If you are KEEN, I would strongly suggest you arrange a physical inspection, as a whole bunch of pics just woant show what you should be seeing with your own eys. Lex, who built it up, he posted here, should also be able to shed some light on what he did to it. BTW My Historic Group Sc, CAMS logbooked 280Z is now for sale, at $45000, or you could buy James Fletts Sc 260 for $60000, it is a tiny bit quicker than mine! Quote
dat2kman Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 To any Queenslanders interested in just even having a look at this car either up close with your camera, or in action it is entered for this weekends National Historic meeting run by HRCC Qld at Morgan Park Warwick, July 24/25 2010.
