Administrators gav240z Posted August 12, 2006 Administrators Posted August 12, 2006 Hi everyone, with all the confusion regarding the S30 chassis prefix and suffix's I thought I'd write up an article to my weblog (blog). I'm not sure if anyone here has been reading it or checking it out. For those who haven't here is the link: http://datsun-240z-blog.viczcar.com/s30-zcar-chassis-prefix.html Let me know what you think? Cheers Quote
sco_aus Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Nice one Gav, cleared a few things for me. Also was just looking at the suspension link, you said you think there is a difference with the 2+2 suspension, well part I can tell you is that the 2+2 Macpherson strut is taller than the 2 seater, however they are the same diameter. Also I believe the strut is a bit stronger? Not 100% on either, but pretty damn sure on the length thing. Quote
NZeder Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 gav you are missing a few on the JDM space. GS30 (yes they do exist - carb L20a 2+2 well looking at the JDM part catalog they do) S31 L20aE ie 2000cc EFI 2 seater GS31 L20aE 2+2 Don't forget the two models for each of these ZS and ZL, I will dig up the codes from the JDM catalog I have Then there is the JDM HS130 and HGS130's also yep the did get the L28 power cars however they were all sold in Japan a Fairlady 280z (not 280zx like the rest of the world) Cheers Mike PS will edit this with the code soon Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 13, 2006 Author Administrators Posted August 13, 2006 Hi Mike, thanks I was a bit unsure on those, I did read about them in the forums but assumed they were the 280zx style body S130. I'm still confused by all the codes myself and that was half the reason I wanted to put an article together for my own and others reference. I'm happy to update it and correct any mishaps. I'd even like Alan T from the Uk to go over it once complete. At this stage I haven't included all the suffix types for different models but it would be a good idea. Quote
zr240 Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 the rear towers are taller in some of the 2seater 260z aswell. Ash Quote
