reverendzed Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Not another ZED but thought I'd put it out there, I need to update my daily driver and looking for a VT Commodore or AU seriesII it would be great if it were on gas! Thanks! Quote
mayhem Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 no more beep beep barina lol you selling that? Quote
reverendzed Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 no more beep beep barina lol you selling that? Yeah, bro, I'm just not a small car guy! I've got my eye on a few cars at the moment....so I guess I'll see what happens over the next few weeks. Hope you're having good hols! Quote
RB30X Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Just my 2c but VT's and AU's would have to be the worst examples of either models ever. Why do it to yourself? They not worth anything, they use way too much fuel for the power you get in return, they've both got the last of the old engines before they upgraded, they're old enough to need big $$ replacements, they leak, sorry Rev........shivers. C.A.R. Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 That can be said for a lot of Holden/Ford models Tim. I've got a 5ltr AU S3 Ute, & it's a magic thing to drive Quote
pauly_adams Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 i got a immaculate 1992 st 184 celica if your interested its only got 180k on it. cheers Pauly PS there better than commodores and fords lol Quote
RB30X Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I won't go into to v8's especially those ford ones. I had an LS1 clubsport myself, VX model, now that was magic. Quote
zzzzed Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 i not ford or holden but i often drive both and i would have to say the ford is a smoother car to drive my mother has had a s2 au for some time now and has never given her any trouble, But it is as ugly as a hat full I would also say a commodore would be more likely to have been thrashed Quote
reverendzed Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 I guess after all the opinions and advice it comes down to $! I'd rather be putting money into my Zed which is an appreciating asset than a mass produced Holden or Commodore HOWEVER these cars are cheap, have enough power for me, qualify for the LPG rebate and there's more parts available than any of us will ever need! My wife (who is actually the REVHEAD of the family) owned a 2000 Olympic edition VT which went like the proverbial and only got rid of it when our family wouldn't stop growing and we needed a van! And Pauly...thanks for the offer but I was expecting to pay more than $500 anyway! Rev. Quote
Glen Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 I just did a week away in a VE, and to be honest i cant tell the difference when driving a Holden or ford, there both as boring as each other and neither have personalties. Now the turbo XR6 and V8 HSV are much more fun Quote
PZG302 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If you could stretch the budget a S2 or S3 AU XR6 with the VCT motor would be very nice. I had a S2 AU XR6 ute with the VCT and was brilliant for towing the Z around and for getting me a round. I only got rid of it when the opportunity came up to jump into my current BF MKII XR8 ute at a price I couldn't refuse. Probably helped that I bought two utes in the one week from the same person, that would have made their figures for the month look pretty good Either of the falcodore types would be a good thing to run around in, another good car would be the last of the Magnas, or 380's as I think they rebranded them, or even better the 4WD Magna. MR260 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi Rev, Happy New Year!! A mate of mine has a couple of VZ Commodore Wagons up for sale soon. He has used them for his work cars just running round mainly. Ones got sunroof, Alloys etc. high K's for age and minor ding in rear, the other is just a base white one with average K's and good body. Think he's after about $7000.00 each not sure what ya budget is but think its pretty fair price though they are wagons. Cheers Joel Quote
reverendzed Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Thanks Joel, I appreciate you keeping your eye out. I ended up going to the vehicle auctions in Altona yesterday and bought a Ford Falcon with Dual fuel...need to get the tank inspected but other than that I'm pretty happy. Rev. Quote
