280ZX Dad Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I have just repaired a large hole with bog behind the rubber strip on my daughters 280ZX front guard. I secured the rubber strip back in place with no name double sided tape this lasted one week before letting go, luckily I found the rubber strip in the gutter outside our house. I am now paranoid about losing the rubber strip if I do not fit it properly. I am not so sure about my rust repair so I may have to remove the trip at a later date to repair the rust properly. What should I use ? Work mate has suggested builders glue, I was thinking silicon or should I buy good quality double sided tape. Quote
reverendzed Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 You can buy a commercial double sided tape from an Auto repair supply shop however I doubt if that will hold over time anyway. The best fix for this is to buy Sikaflex (available at Bunnings) this will hold and can be removed (with care) later. Make sure both surfaces are spotless before applying. Hope that helps. Rev. Quote
zzzzed Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 at work we use 3m doubble sided tape. It never lets go if you are using the cheaper brand tape i would use sicaflex sealant adhesive with it just to make sure Quote
twosixty Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 3m products are expensive because they work. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Automotive/OEM/Prod_Info/Catalog/?nid=2TVWVVKZFFbeV0141B40KNgl Quote
chris240 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 x2 for the sikaflex.. the 3m "special" double sided tape is amazing...Our guys at work use it to fix alucobond facade sheets onto tophats for commercial buildings. Quote
