. Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Anybody know where I can get a replacement crown and pinion for an R180? Or a whole R180 I currently have a 4.6 ratio but I'd prefer a 4.44 or similar (I need longer legs) Quote
C.A.R. Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Have a look through the Ozdat classifides. Another option is getting a R30 Skyline diff converted - but they are 3.9... Quote
PZG302 Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Bugger, I only have a 3.9 as a spare. Might also be worth chasing up 4WD wreckers for a 720 front diff, I know the diesels are 4.875 and most petrol are 4.6, but there were also a few 4.4 front diffs as well. Quote
dat2kman Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hi Greg, the 4.6 and 4.8 was common in some 720 trucks at the front, The 4.4 ratio is a rare Nissan Sport ratio and I am pretty sure was not a common fitment, Jon Siddens was chasing one a while back to keep his targa car with the r180 ( rules) but couldnt find one, By the time I told him I had one, he had come up with a solution, he went to different gearing in the box and smaller diam rim tyre combo to get what he was after. Mind you he was running 4.8 or 5.1 I have got a collection of r180's that I am crazily keeping for when I re-live my boyhood dreams of a Dasun 1600 rally car with a holinger c/r box, a L 2.4 grunter and a lsd r180 arse, but, they are just dreams. Come twist my arm and lets do a deal 3.545 complete, would suit a car with a truck box that has the 3.59 first gear 5.143 complete for the short spint type events and high rpm 3.7 dissassembled, and, said 4.375 Nismo option jobbie, dissassembled, can supply with a open or welded hemi. SORRY NO LSD'S jason Quote
japjag Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I would lovvve your 4.6 diff if you are looking to save space in your shed. Quote
zed280zx Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I have a 4.4 R180 LSD PM me been in storage for some time I am in Brisbane Quote
bluerat Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I was looking for a R180 4.4 for my 1600 for a long time, but ended up with a R160 out of a WRX. The STI WRX came out with R180 4.4's I found a couple but they were too expensive for an one off experiment, they were around $1200, and I'm pretty sure thats with LSD. I found them at Suburu wreakers and the odd importer. You can only use the crown wheel and pinion as the Datsun half shafts dont fit in the Subi centre, different splines and lengths(?). I was also told that you may have to drill out the crown wheel bolt holes 1mm to use the Datsun centre which uses larger bolts. The guy I navagate for has a couple, but wont part with them, there definently out there in reasonable numbers. If your in Vic i would try STI Docklands as a good starting point. I've got a 4.4 R200 for my Zed, I've heard they are a lot more common ratio in the R200's. This may be worth looking into as well, unless you can't run one for a certain race class etc. 720's are a great thing for diff's I just picked up another 4.8 on Monday. Jason I was wondering why Siddens was running 15's and not 16's in Targa. He's the man!! Just read you are in Brisbane....no where near Vic!! LOL Good luck. Quote
