ZWOLF Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Hi Guys, Texaco is having a contest to choose a winner of each decade from 1900 on. The Blue Oval Z is entered in of course the 1970's decade and is currently in 6th place. Figuring that the tough competition would come from the Ford, Chevy, Mopar camps solely based on their enormous size, the surprise has been the AMC guys. They have came out in support of a 1976 Pacer (and Purple no less)! I guess you have to admire the AMC camp for their support in making an AMC the car of the decade (but a Purple Pacer???). Here a link to the BOZ page. http://texacocarofthedecades.com/cardetails.aspx?Preview=False&CarDetailID=73&Decade=1970 At the bottom of the page is a "Rate this Ride", clicking this will allow you to score the car from 1-10, and cast your vote (login required). Also feel free to leave a comment. Any and all help is appreciated!! Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted September 25, 2009 Administrators Posted September 25, 2009 I just voted and unsubscribed from their mailing list at the same time . Quote
ZWOLF Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Great Idea! I subcribed over a month ago and am yet to get an e-mail from them. NEWS! Somehow the contest has dramatically reduced the scores of the 1st, and 2nd place cars by about 1/2 (Good for the BOZ). Something fishey must have been going on with those guys. Quote

It would be great to feature the car on our site, I can put a link from the article to the competition to get more people involved. That way people who just browse our site might be motivated to go vote and we get to have that car and its story on our homepage. I think Sulio (aka Toecutter) was going to ask the owner, but seems you have contact with him and might be able to oragnise it? Of course we would be happy to feature the Zwolf too! Quote
ZWOLF Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 That would be GREAT! Let me know what I may do to help. Thank you for the consideration. Roger Quote
Toecutter Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I tried sending the owner a message from his site about a week a go but yet to recieve a response. Roger if you do get in touch with the owner perhaps you could direct him to this thread or pass on my e-mail address sulio_m@hotmail.com so we can get some details for an artical. Thanks, Sulio Quote
ZWOLF Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 - UPDATE - Tuesday October, 6th 6 days left in the contest. We're shifting into 5th gear! ;D We have picked up 13 votes for 130 points in the last 20 hours. At this rate the Pacer X is dust, and there's a shot at Victory Circle. Your vote is critical! CLICK FOR VICTORY!! http://texacocarofthedecades.com/CarDetails.aspx?CarDetailID=73&Preview=False&Decade=1970 Quote
ZWOLF Posted October 8, 2009 Author Posted October 8, 2009 ONLY 4 Days left to place your vote! As of today we're 33 votes out of 2nd place, and 66 votes from VICTORY. The last few day's we've closed the gap however voting has slowed substantially. I would like to that all that have supported this endeavor by voting, and getting friends involved. There is a car show tonight that I plan to attend to try and stir up some votes, and some more opportunities this weekend. Bill Coffey did a 100+ piece direct that helped generate some support. If you have any ideas please let me know. Regards, Roger http://texacocarofthedecades.com/cardetails.aspx?Preview=False&CarDetailID=73&Decade=1970 Quote
