Surly_Z Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Just spotted this today - for under $10 grand it's well worth a look! It looks as if it has a recorded history too. Someone buy it! http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=7421311&__sid=122894D070FA&__Qpb=true&Cr=5&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Price_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294966615%204294966410&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=13&silo=1011 Quote

DatZed Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 Don't waste your time looking at this if you want a good body. I went to have a look at it when it was advertised on this forum. It looks good from a distance but it's had a hit in the left rear that has been poorly repaired, rust under the fuel filler, front left guard is full of rust and the respray that was done on the vehicle must have been completed at a sheltered workshop. Having said that if you were willing to take the risk it's very original, just has a pretty average body. I would pay $4k for it at the most. Quote
Kodie Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Was the rear hit bad, or just badly repaired? When you looked at it did he/she seem keen to move on price? Quote
Surly_Z Posted July 18, 2009 Author Posted July 18, 2009 It's funny how some cars in the flesh are half as good as they seem in photos! Still, someone with time and money could make a good solid original car from it. Quote
DatZed Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 The hit in the rear wasn't too bad, just poorly repaired. The overall level of rust in the car was of concern to me, as there were small bubbles coming up all over the car. I got the impression that if you bead blasted it you would end up with something that looked more like swiss cheese than a datsun. This is common for japanese vehicles of this age that have had a very poor prep job done prior to a repaint. I got the impression that price was negotiable, but now that he has had the work completed to get it up to RWC, he was under the impression that it was worth $10K. IMHO I think a really good 260z 2 seater is worth that, not a rust bucket. Perhaps I think people tend to ask too much for these cars, but I still wouldn't pay much more than $4k for it. Quote
nedloh312 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Well, it appears to have sold... Hope the buyer has more money lined up to fix it!!! I wonder if they will signup here... Quote
