I've just taken the N42 head off an F54 block and I was expecting flat tops over dished but I'm not sure what these are.

I've seen bigger dishes in pistons but I've also seen flatter flat tops.

???

check out the nice bores too by the way, hone marks are still there from 30 years ago.

Plans are to polish/port match this head to the gasket but I'm waiting for a carb manifold and extractors to ensure they all match up.

cheers

Look like the standard dish piston to me - I have never seen a N42/F54 combo with flattop's yet and I have seen a few apart over the years. I believe the flat top were on the NA P90/F54 setups. These pistons (your pics) will have a 10cc dish ;)

That is one way to check, fill the piston dish with water and then poor into medicine glass, or vice versa to see if it matches NZeders 10cc.

Bugger. Thats half the reason i bought this car the wreck, the F54 block with the supposed flat tops. Oh well looks like i'll have to buy some seperately.

They seal welsh plugs with a product called Stag..

And thats just where they didn,t clean up the left overs..

Welsh plugs???? What are welsh plugs and do I need them? Is that why I go through so much coolant?
