I have a 1995-96 nikon slr with some great lenses, 2 autofocus and 1 fixed..Im looking to buy a Nikon D-SLR body, will the Old "D" lenses be compatible with a digital body ? (Im thinking about buying a D70 or D90).. p.s. I just spent 3 great "work" days in Melbourne, I should have called a few of you up for some brewskis Quote
Toecutter Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 yes you shoulda called. Hey I'm not sure that the Nikon digitals accept the older lenses. My K10 Pentax digital SLR takes all my old lenses but I was of the impression the Canon and Nikon do not. Might be mistaken though. Sulio Quote
fufu Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Ok, here's the low down for this question. No they won't mount up. You can buy an adaptor to mount the lens up to the new DSLR bodies. But it will be in manual focus mode. It will not pass over auto-focus (AF) if the lens has AF. Nikon is very specific, it requires specific lens for each DSLR. This is across their whole line-up of cameras. Very complicated. E.g. Canon FD lens requires an adaptor to mount to EF DSLRs. Quote
