Well, as most of you know i have bought Lurches old bus (260z 2+2). It's in pretty awesome condition as is but the interior is not that great so i thought i would document everything i did to the interior here :)

Anyways, planned upgrades are:

  •
  • New Seats - Set of those seats you get from Auto barn (Not proper racing)

  • Retrim Of Interior - Black leather with white stitching probably

  • New dash and gauges

  • Electric Sunroof

  • Fairlady mirrors (Bonnet mirrors?)

  • New rubber kits (Tiny bit of leakage when it is torrential rain)

  • Orange paint with black stripe down each side (Low down)

  • Some sort of sound system, nothing fancy, probably just second hand from eBay

  • Cool electric system:

    •
  • Central Locking Kit: Installing next weekend

  • Power Windows: Gotta source this

  • Immobiliser & alarm

  • Interior Lighting - Bought a few parts over the weekend

Most of this isn't going to happen short term but that is will be done for me to consider it complete.... haha, who am i kidding?! IT will NEVER be complete ^^

Will take heaps of pics when I install central locking kit over weekend :)

Yay, the diff is now back in and she's all working again :D. Quick explanation!

When lurch loaded the car on the trailer, it was fine. New wheels that had just been put on abd in perfect condition. When it was unloaded, there was a small bit of wear on the tyres which means something may have happened, there was also a small 'thump' when pressing the accelerator. Last Wednesday when i was on my way to work, the diff bolt in the cover SNAPPED! Long story short, we took the diff out, drilled into the dead bolt (High tensile, watch out), put an easy out into the bolt, heated the hole around the bolt and took the dead bolt out, 100$ saved :D Then we put the diff back in and now it goes like a charm :) Getting ready to abuse the shit outa the transport company tomorrow...

So yer, this weekend i will install central locking kit and power windows, will also fixed that damn broken passenger door handle :P

Might i suggest that should you get an alarm system, you get one with tracking and a prepaid sim card setup.  I know of many success stories from these.. Remember to check legality in your state though.

Hey Sco I have an alarm connected to my car, but no tracking system. Can you recommend any aftermarket tracking systems?

Not really, it depends on whats legal in QLD, I would suggest going to your local car alarm providers and find what suits you and your budget best.  There would be different technology since the last time i looked, about 3 years ago.

I am looking at getting http://mongoose.com.au/vehicle-security/5-star-alarms/m60g.aspx, they are around 200$ and can link up with my central locking kit. Also looking at getting this thing I saw which was a little box that you hook up too central locking and when you look the door the windows wind up :D But we'll see :)

i just got a m60s put in mine is ok alarms always seem to take awhile to set in central locking but no power windows. maybe get one on ebay and get someone to put it in.

Well, the centra locking kit arrived today, it's not a black widow and it doesn't have remotes. It's ok though because i never sent payment, i sent a few emails asking for payment details but never replied  ??? Anyways, i will install this weekend :) When i get the alarm it should have a remote and then i can try and hook one up to the boot aswell :P

Dave : thanks for the heads up on the door locking kit. Keep us posted on the fitting as well. Nice car as well.

Yer, it looks pretty simple to setup, the wiring is well done (Quite neat) and it's all just blue->blue & red->red kinda wiring. Comes with all the rubber protection pieces and a small bracket and a pretty decent a4 size instruction booklet with 2 different setup versions for different door configurations. I stole borrowed my mums digital camera so will take heaps of photos and upload a good tutorial on it ;)

Just bought some audio stuff, 2 12" Fusion Subs, 2 Fusion amps and 2 Fusion tweeters, brand new off ebay for 150$ hehe. They are still boxed so woot! Will look at getting a indash double din unit next :D Gunna have to upgrade the whole electrical unit if i keep going... haha

just quietly, i think you may have a bit of trouble with space to fit a double din head unit. Even if you remove the heater controls there is still a lack of depth because of the heater box.

Not saying it cant be done  with a bit of customisation though, but just be careful  not to ruin the look of the factory dash  ;)

Perhaps take some measurements first of your available room add an extra 1/4 inch or so all round for variables and get the specs of the unit your looking at from the seller

A lot of these new head units also require a fair bit of room for the speaker leads, power and amp connections etc....or you could make a recessed fascia so your unit is level with the rest of the dash and mount it in the glove box as a different scenario
