240zoom Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Hi all Have been lurking around for a bit. A bit of a story but had a good friend up in Japan on business who drove past a 240Z on the side of the road outside Tokyo. Long story short he stopped and spoke to the owner, gave me a call and before we knew it I owned a 73 240Z and he had a 1600 2 door coupe! Luckily we bought them several months ago when the dollar value was really good and we imported them at Christmas time. So now I am the proud owner of a little red 240Z with a L28 EFI motor, LSD, Nice lumpy Cam, bride race seat, gussetted and struts for body stability, watanabe rims, 3.5 inch exhaust from the headers and a few other nice engine modifications. All this for AUD 8K which made my day BIG TIME (especially as it has only 45000 on the clock and has been stored for a very long time) However it needs a little work. I have ordered new BRE front air dam, rear spoiler, all new bushes, slotted rotors and all rubbers for the car plus a complete new interior and most other things I can get my hands on. the door skins need to be redone but there is no cancer in it other than a few surface paint chip type issues which will be easily rectified. I hope to have the complete rebuild and respray done within the next 3 months (parts permitting) to say I am stoked and well and truly hooked is an understatement. Once it's on the road I will use it as my Sunday driver and also racing with the Vintage and Classic Car Club in perth. Quote
chris240 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 welcome dude (name unknown).. upload some pics, sounds like a top buy...did the price include all shipping and aust govt import charges as well ? Quote
dazzed Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 a 3.5" exhaust, i wouldnt be suprised if there was 3.1litre motor lurking under your hood, now you hope that the rest of the year follows with bargains like that, once in a life time , top buy. Quote
George Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 welcome aboard. sounds like you got yourself a nice deal there. Quote
240zoom Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 I dropped some pics in the buildup area. I have been told it's bored out to a 3 litre too. The price excluded taxes on arrival but I am in the logistics business so the freight and associated charges (other than gov't statutory charges) were "taken care of" Quote
