  1. Brand New. I have taken out of the box but never fitted. Just decided to do something different. Already imported and sitting in perth so no hassles. The exchange rate has done my head in since I imported 6 months ago but such is life. Will sell for A$1000.00 firm. Tony 0409433455 or tberson@airlandlogistics.com
  2. Well work, GFC, family, golf, travel etc... has taken it's toll however we are back on track with the project So far it's back on it's wheels! We have repainted all the suspension using a really cool paint called KBR coatings which is a brush on self levelling paint which gave us a nice finish. Drum brakes were completely brand new so didn't need much. All suspension has been sandblasted, painted, Struts staying the same with the old Kyoebi's (spelling?) ex Japan. All struts etc... with new camber adjustable bushings. All the suspension is stamped with a "Y" which somebody told me is factory race spec .. can anyone elaborate on whether this is true or not? Doors are back together, hood lining goes in this week. Motor/gearbox this week and dash/electricals being done too. I have spent the week polishing the gearbox and retaping the wiring looms which is top fun!
  3. S30 mate
  4. Guys Can I get some help. I am trying to find information on what are the correct badges to show on a jap S30 I have a S30 fairlady badge that has a jap and US flag on it but it doesn't ring true as being right. The car had the quarter panel "Z" in chrome on a black circle but no other badges. Can anyone point me to what the original and correct badges are?
  5. OK the little girl is coming out of the spray painters today. Now the reassembly begins (yay!!!)
  6. Few more
  7. paintwork has started Sneak preview
  8. Hi guys Has anyone noticed the price of Z cars in Japan lately? I was going thru the Japanese Yahoo auctions and saw Fairlady's going for prices up to 40K to 50K plus! Although looking nice and original they didn't look stunning or anything like that. Maybe they are getting rarer up there. We should start fixing and exporting them
  9. Body work going along nicely. Rear indicator and aerial panels are being blocked up, dents from roof and bonnet have been removed and only 2 light skim coats of bog to smooth it over after filing. Door skins are on and just need to start fitting everything right. Have cut the rust out of the drivers sill. Waiting on a replacement panel to be made. rust around the petrol filler is all fixed as well
  10. going away from traditional colours. Have found a nice platinum which is a chrysler colour. Looks the goods Will most likely leave the rest for vinyl artwork (to be decided)
  11. And it does work too! I was quite chuffed about that. The dash was repaired (standard nasty cracks) and reskinned totally. the console was plastic welded as there were a few cracks and it has been painted with some kind of plastic treatment. the photos don't really do it justice
  12. My day just got brighter Just had the centre consol and dash delivered
  13. The centre consol and dash are still out being repaired in Perth due back this week. the door trims and hood lining are the same. I got the Watanabes painted and polished ready for boots. Came out ok
  14. What's the difference?
  15. Started thinking about the interior whilst the painter (currently) is painting the baby Firstly I wanted to get the gauges calibrated, tested, repaired. Sent them off and they came back with a clean bill of health. All working and all perfect. So I got the faces painted and am pretty happy with the results. All up .... calibration, testing and painting was about 480.00 from Aisat Instruments in Perth.
  16. Engine sorted I started looking at the body which to me was the scariest. Car was sent of for soda blasting and 5 colours of paint removed. It had been every colour of the rainbow in its life. The soda blaster had a hell of a time. Damage on completion of soda blasting - 2 new door skins (got from rare parts) - new sill under drivers side door (fabricated ourselves) - lotsa tiny dents on roof and bonnet (popped out old school style) - a bit of rust under windscreen - bits of surface rust around I was pretty happy with the result. nothing too scary and more importantly nothing too expensive to fix.
  17. OK next was the engine and gearbox. the gearbox is fine. Happy for me it has been rebuilt and somebody chose to write the ratios on the box as follows: 3.321, 2.027, 1.308, 1.000, 0.864. this will do fine The motor is a L28. It's on a N42 block, has been bored/stroked to 3.1 litres (in round figures) and is fuel injected. took the rocker cover off and basically it was spot on. Even the oil in it was brand new so it had obviously been well maintained. the only thing I did was change out the valve springs from standard to Crow Cam heavy duty springs. the throttle body and rocker cover were stripped and polished and ceramic coated along with the extractors which were pretty much brand new. Cleaned and serviced the starter motor and Alternator to give it a nice look and was pretty happy with the results
  18. Hi all I posted a long time ago when I joined about a little S30 fairlady I bought in Japan. According to the owner it was used in Tokyo as a weekend track car. It wasn't fancy but I liked it. It wasn't even for sale. We saw it parked on the side of the road and stopped and chatted to the owner and he sold it along with a Datsun 1600 coupe racecar (fully done) and a 1800SSS Coupe stock standard that belonged to a Datsun test driver. I have attached a photo of the car in Japan and also when it arrived in fremantle. I managed to land it in Fremantle for around $8000.00
  19. Guys Apologies if this has been covered but I can't seem to find a thread I have some Watanabe 14 x 7 fronts and 14 x 7.5 rears for my S30 I am looking for a semislick suitable for classic car track work and also ok on the roads (ok is fine ... I know they will wear) So far I have found toyo's that will suit. before I go down this track i was hoping somebody might have an opinion on a tyre that I don't know about. Getting 14" is really tiresome on the ring around so trying here now thanks
  20. Mate I need the sound deadener so I can't hear the wife telling me I am going too fast!!
  21. Thanks ... good information
  22. Hi all Have a standard radiator in my Fairlady Z. I am looking at losing some weight and getting something in there a bit more modern. I am running a L28 EFI motor. Does anyone have advice on what radiators work well to give good cooling and reduced weight? Tried one from a mate that was from a Silvia.... nice and light but a bit small and running a bit warm. Any advice to make it easy appreciated
  23. Here is a pic taken in Japan where it was parked. You can see the Watanabe's on it. the best part was there was another set in the boot so am setting the second set up with semi slicks as they are 2 x 14x7's and 2 x 14x7.5's Shame they weren't magnesium though
  24. Thanks Nzeder for the wealth of information so far. I'm pretty stoked to get to the bottom of this. I am assuming being a Fairlady that I should be looking for standard 260Z interior panels etc... to suit rather than the 240z? When I look at blackdragon etc... It don't tell you which way to go and I lurvvv to buy toys for my car
  25. thanks for the information. The firewall chassis number is actually S3014315 which made me believe it was more like a 1973-74 build but happy for the information. It's the only stamped number I have to go off in order to work out what the car is. Is there a site anywhere which records the chassis numbers and gives a better insight to the true build date? Motor is definitely a L28
