mtopxsecret6 Posted August 28, 2009 Author Posted August 28, 2009 Morning chaps. I think its time we had another meet and greet. How about a daytime meet for something different. How about a short drive with a bbq? Anyone got some suggestions? When i say short i mean no more than 50k from brisbane. As the lounge meets are really only static meets. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Steve and I were going to organise a bbq at his house, it's fairly central for everyone and it's a good street to park in. We were thinking a Sunday afternoon so it doesn't interfer with everyone's weekend. I know Steve's a bit busy with uni etc atm so I'll let him post when/if he wants to do it. I don't mind doing it at my house in St Lucia but I live on pretty big hill, there is parking out the front but I suppose it' just not that convenient. Quote
modular9 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Sexual sushi : I'd be worried that a normal meet ( eg not at night and not on a weekday ) would attract more members . Hell I know if my car is still running I'd go. That might make it a larger meet and that is all we need if a bunch of auszcar members to get featured on the latest ACA "story on hoons ruining the neighbourhood and no doubt they are terrorists sponging off the govt swine flu victims " thing. Anyway a normal meet on a normal day I'd be there. Mike Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 what is your description of a normal meet on a normal day is? You've eventually got to come to one of these meet's, You will run out of excuses soon! Quote

modular9 Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I'd go if it were a saturday/sunday afternoon/midday bbq my point is ... Most people can make daytime/bbq's on the weekends. If more people can make a weekend then suffice to say ... more people will turn up. With more people turning up that means more cars will be on the street. If there are more cars on the street then the "community spirited " residents will get angry. when you have a lot of angry "community spirited " people gathered together then there generally will be an "a current affairs " TV team present. Then we will have the host talking about "dangerous young men in barely legal datsun cars ( that should be crushed for being environmental hazards ) congregating in groups no doubt selling pot to young school kids while video taping school fights ". Where upon the federal government , not wanting to lose the vote of same said "community spirited " residents will enact an act of parliament detailing the need for groups of datsun owners to be outlawed ( like the bikie gang legislation but federal ) But then what will happen is that the UN will want to intervene at this point. Seeing that Australia is impugning the rights of datsun owners throughout this great country the UN and perhaps amnesty international will involve the US military to implement sweeping changes to the "Anti-datto legislation chapter2 c ". The Australian government incensed by this cruel and pernicious attempt at profit and greed from the US led UN intervention will of course declare war upon the USA. Of course this means a nuclear escalation of the type not seen since the cuban missile crisis. The US will start posturing with their nuclear bases targetting strategic towns such as wagga wagga and black stump . We on the other hand will enlist the help of our pacific neighbours in an all out attack on the US. We will start off with the New zealand led haka where the US military will stand and watch where upon we will start the ball rolling with a thorough beating of the US in beach cricket. However it will all escalate. This action will of course bring nuclear armageddon to the world. Once the dust settles and the melted datsuns gleam in the nuclear winter and the charred remains of the brisbane prefecture meet waft across the dried up brisbane river bed to coagulate under the broken goodwill bridge structure , a small voice will be heard. This voice being run from a screen reader in an old folks home , will be reading out the last contents of that old folks web browser. This person was browsing the Auszcar site. Reliving their days when they used to drive a real hot car known as a 240z. and they were browsing this very thread when the nuclear conflagration hit. That voice said... " if only we were to meet where no one could get up us for having a meet." So hopefully you can see from this diatribe that the need for a place where if a lot of people did turn up for a weekend bbq it wouldnt matter... or we can all die in a nuclear war. I'm just pointing out the hazard. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 haha well I think my neighborhood would be fine wit it. My topside neighbours regularly have sunday arve gatherings where 10-20 cars line our street. My bottom side neighbor owns 6 porches that he regularly parks out on the street, I'm sure he would be fine with it and would probably even come over for a squiz and a chat (he offered me a drive of his carrera in exchange for a drive of my 240z). But anyway I'm keen for Steve's house, my house or a public park or something.... Quote
. Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Mate we could have the best of both worlds. I live next to a park remember They have BBQs there. Only problem with Stevo's is parking. Anyway the offer is there dependant on timing. Although we don't have to rely on the public BBQ as I do have one myself. Quote

sexual_sushi Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 ahhh i did think about your house Greg, it is ideal. I thought Steve's place was good cause it's north/central (it takes me an hour to get to your place). But your place has got plenty of parking, a nice big park and everyone who comes can pick something from your shed to take home! haha So plan atm, sunday arve BBQ at Greg's place out at strathpine. Now all we need is a suitbale date and attendee's Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 sounds good to me.. we need a set date and time.. a list of attendee's.. and a list of foodstuff's each person will bring. Quote
garvice Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Most sunday arvo's will be fine for me as well. Quote
stevo_gj Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I was very keen to hold the BBQ until I got hit by the full force of uni this semester. I didn't even have time to pop out to Greg's to get a bit to fix my bloody door lock I've been so busy. I think I shouldn't be relied to hold meets until after this semester Greg's sounds great! I'll try and make whatever day you guys pick, but no promises Quote

Now all we need is a suitbale date and attendee's Yeah everyone wins a prize. I get to choose what the prizes are.....I think I can drum up some wheel nuts or something Better yet last weekend we had new neighbours move in with 7 kids all under 12. I think I could give their kids away and nobody would notice What about this plan: 26th and 27th is the Zed 40th birthday special event. The Sunday is at Lakeside (Literally 5 minutes from my place). Those who are interested can go there watch the racing then come round for the BBQ. It will be BYO everything (Drinks and meat). I will make up some salads. The croutons will the wheelnuts I mentioned earlier. Anyone who wants to can leave their drinks etc in our fridge in the morning so it doesn't get too warm. Don't make it Sept 11-13!!! I will be working Quote
sexual_sushi Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 ahhh perfect, you are the plan master Greg. Now just keep an eye on those neighbours, make sure there are no dodgy tents out the back :S So who's in? Quote

mtopxsecret6 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 to keep things rolling.. i'll bring a bbq meat tray and some soft drink, and my tummy. Does anyone mind if i bring my camera and get heaps of interior shots.. so i can piece together the bits of stuff in my lounge room floor. Quote

Yep as long as I can get my head back on in time and all the last little fiddle bit together i'll be there. Will be her first run out after a long lay off. What time you guys looking at heading up? Any thought of a small convoy? Doug Quote
