Tranny filler nut HELP!

Has anyone every had HUGE issues with loosening this nut to fill the gear box with oil?

 

I've battled for 2 days trying differing things but it won't come off.

 

I've had to resort to filling up via the reverse sensor hole as doing it via the speedo hole didn't work.

On my recent overhaul with Mayhem we could not get the tranny filler off. I was bending the spanner with a huge ring spanner connected. also tried lifting the spanner with the jack. But all it did was lift the car.

 

You could possibly use some heat, but all I did was filled it up via the reverse sensor hole.

 

I am going to pull the tranny out soon and I may try when it is off the car, I have a close ratio racing box to put in as well as my button clutch.

i usualy fill it up through the gearstick (once its removed) makes filling lot faster but i guess you still want to make sure its got enough oil. unless u just use measurment and hope its enough.

 

but i did have troubled nuts on both diff and gearbox.

i resorted in welding a wheel nut on top of it and using a huge bar to work it loose.

anything else just didnt work as the insides were all rounded off or end were chipped to use hammer and chissel.but you need room to weld the sucker.bit of heat from the weld helps too.

 

do not use oxy set on the nut cause of the alloy housing. could damage/crack/melt if gets too hot.

 

if gbox out prob easiest than to get it off and replace it with a new one. about $5 from nissan

fark me so it's not just me..............yeh we literally bent the dam spanners and tools.......two guys combined strength.

 

dam hey........reckon powerfull mechanic air tools would work?.........

also broke an el cheapo spanner, powerful air tools could work, but you would want to take the gearbox out of the car.

i've done mine a couple of time... made sure the car wasn't gonna move anywhere on the jackstands... positioned myself right under it with my knees anchoring me and then using a plumbers wrench or a massive shifter just pull it and its come.

I think a large amount of it is positioning yourself correctly.. i had feet facing front of car and then you sort of are pulling towards your head... you can get a LOT of force that way using all your core muscles to get right into it.

Had mine on jack stands, both me and Mayhem tried. We probably was not holding our mouths right. Tried all positions and mechanical leverage we could get.

 

I will try a huge bar, hammer and spanner when I get the gearbox off the car.

it's not worth the pain I tell ya...........just heat up the fluid by putting the container in hot water and pour it via the reverse sensor hole - with the car jacked up at the front as high as you can get it.

 

If i knew that I would have saved myself 2 days  .

 

I tried loosening in the position using my legs also........i mean if that doesn't work then theres not much hope.
