George Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 that's a pretty broad question what kind of racing? Quote
mrp69 Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 mate im new to this around the track with times and poll positions peter Quote
stevo_gj Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Can't help with NSW, but maybe its similar to what I had to do in QLD: I wanted to enter a Motorkhana event in Qld with the Z car club here and I needed my Level 1 Cams license. (because motorkhanas are pretty low speed events) If I want to race around the track I need my Level 2. I went for Level 2 in case I ever did want to go to the track with the club. Cost less than 100 for the Cams license (I think) then all I need to take it to a track day is a car that passes the inspections before the race and a motorbike helmet. Oh and I also think you need to be a paying member of a Cams associated car club, which the Qld Z car club is. Quote
George Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 all you need to know is here http://www.cams.com.au/ i'd suggest talking to the mx5 club of nsw http://www.mx5.com.au/nsw/ and joining in on one of their open track days. it's a great way to get your car on the track with minimum fuss. lots of car clubs do this btw. C.A.R. Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 MRP, I think you need to do some research about what CLASS of racing you want to get into & work out a budget. I'd also suggest you join your local Nissan/Datsun/Zed club as the members in these clubs are an invaluable sorce of information on getting into motorsport. If your serious, your about to enter a VERY slippery slope that will always leave you poor... HTH. Quote
260Coupe Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Can I suggest you join the Sydney Z club...........a great bunch of blokes and plenty of advise if you want to get into club sprints or full on circuit racing. Step one Go along to a sprint meeting and talk to the guys about what is required to compete (L2S license, car set up , scrutineering, sup regs, registration process etc) Get some track time and some instruction...........after a year of sprints you then may want to step up to circuit racing .....and really start spending big $$$$$ http://www.zcarclub.com.au/ Alan Quote
mrp69 Posted September 4, 2008 Author Posted September 4, 2008 yeah cause i wanna ask my work for sponsor ship they can use it as a tax ride off. but will look into everything alot further between now and then peter Quote
George Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 or you can forget about bashing your car and get into kart racing. you'd be surprised how much fun that is and anyone that writes it off as below car racing hasn't felt the roar of a 15,000rpm engine propel them 100+ km/h around a corner 1 inch off the ground. it'll knock your socks off. budgets are also a lot more reasonable. i'll talk to you about it at our next meet. C.A.R. Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Word^. I'd love a 250cc gearbox International, but I don't think my back could put up with the pounding... Quote
Aaron Neubauer Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 3/4 of those wheels are off the track!! Quote
George Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 with the right setup you're off the ground on one side into most corners. certainly one wheel anyway. Quote
