tbscobraZ Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 http://www.terra2imports.ca/import-japan119126256728179.htm No way in hell is that a 300ZX its ticket price is around 22k australian dollars, thought it might be interesting. Quote
mrp69 Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 im pretty sure its 260z cause it says its a 1976 model doesnt look to bad but would of had a very hard life peter Quote
yellazed Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Been for sale for more than 6 months. e.g.: http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11157 At half that price or less it might be viable. Check the interior! Nice if you like that trashed look. Shamelessly cashing in on Wangan Midnight. At A$27K? Nah. You'd spend another fortune knocking it into shape. Running without air cleaners looks cool but not conducive to engine longevity. There's even a 2 litre jobby. More reasonably priced, but its a 260 2+2 for close to $16K! Not even a 240*.: http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/index.php?ID=11156 Early Zeds are worth more in Japan than here. There are less available. You'd be well advised to shop locally - my 0.02c. Edit: *interior even more trashed! Quote
Hunter Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 It says the engine capcity is 3.1L. My guess is that it is a L28D stroker, looking at the engine bay this is quite possible. Because all ZEDS were called Fairlady's in japan they probably named it a 300ZX because of it's capacity. To Americanise the name. SPECS IN THE ADD Aftermarket transmission & clutch L28 engine bored t 3100cc MSD high power ignition Lowered suspension Full roll cage More Details Available Aftermarket Exhaust Aftermarket Wheels With all the work done to this car and if the body is in great condition it could well be worth the asking price. ozy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 im pretty sure its 260z cause it says its a 1976 model if shes jap domestic, its a "fairlady Z" and probably would have had a 2.0 litre originally like mine. but like mine i call it a 280Z as ive an L28 in it too, although mines 3.0litre too, but calling it a 300Z is a bit much. dont know where they thought of the X in it though Quote
Hunter Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 The X is ment to mean luXury certainly none in this model. LOL Quote
ozy Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 i thought the X was only ascribed after 1979, on the square shaped 280zx didnt know it meant that! yeah deffo not on this Quote
Hunter Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Yeah I heard it on an old American TV advertisement I have on a ZED resource cd at home. I am not sure what advertisement it was, I will chase it up but I remember it saying "We have added the "X" for luXury" This when Nissan was trying to break into the Luxury GT market with their new 280ZX. and yes true the X was only on the later square model. No idea why they have advertised this car as a 300ZX Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 20, 2008 Administrators Posted August 20, 2008 Its more than likely listed as a 300zx because the content management system on the website doesn't have any earlier models to categorise it under. The 3.1ltr looks like a beast, shame they are trying to market it as a Wangan Midnight special though . Quote
