the standard offset for the S30 is 0. So ideally you want 40mm sapcer with that wheel but I think 25mm will work. Just keep in mind they might sit 15mm in and it might look abit cheesy and not fill out the arch's to look full. Due to this I reckon your  better off getting proper offset wheels for a few more dollars.

Hi Paul,

Thanks mate. Always heaps to do on the car like most members here.

Did you look into the Rota's Ben is shipping in. They are aorund the $1000 mark and don't need spacers?

All the best!

I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I've been told not to use wheel spacers because of the extra leverage they place on things like the stub axle etc. Especially large bolt on spacers. Has anyone heard anything similar? Just curious, you don't want to find out by accident.....

It's not necessarily the spacer that's the problem.  It all depends on what final offset you end up with.  If you use a 20mm spacer on a +20 wheel, you end up with a nett 0, or little difference in load because the track (centre line of your wheel) remains unaltered.

If you use a 20mm spacer on a 0 offset wheel, you push your track width out 20mm, increasing load on bearings, axles, etc.

Some use bolt on spacers to compensate for limited offset choice in the desired wheels, or to want to have less 'dish' on wide wheels or to prevent the inside of the tyre rubbing on uprights/springs.  You can even buy bolt-ons to convert from 4 stud to 5 stud.

I have them on one of my cars and so far have had no excessive bearing wear or undesirable side effects, but it really depends on how aggressive the combination is and what your final offset is.  Wide rims and negative offsets will cause increased loads, even without spacers.

I have 9.5" rims, but only increased the track marginally because the final offset means extra rim width is distributed both inwards and outwards. Does that make any sense?

Yella Z is right if you use the correct size spacer to run the wheel to correct offset you should'nt get the stress from a "levering" effect. It will only happen if you try and push the wheel too far out from 0. ie you put on a really big spacer.

I used these bolt on hub adapter's on my car with my first set of 17's. I've heard of many people running them with cars like 911 porsche's etc so they must  not be all that bad.

My experience was I once had one of the ones I was using get loose on the front wheel. Nothing happened as I felt it at low speed but that was enough for me to buy 3 piece wheels with custom offset that I wanted. The ROH 17x8.5 -6 and 17x9.5 -19,  best deal I could find was $1800 new at the time, these days probably at least $2200 for similar deal but well worth it for the piece of mind.
