Administrators gav240z Posted May 8, 2020 Administrators Share Posted May 8, 2020 Hi Folks, Just looking for spare parts. If you have any old/broken/aborted projects let me know? Thanks, Gavin.
Huw
Gav, Going through the same exercise. Have just got antenna all apart all that remains is to: - use the trimmer line to replace my broken plastic reel; - replace (if possible) the broken rubber's on top (possible via rubber parts site) and decide whether the 'fingered' washer/nut needs replacing (as only has 3/4 of the fingers). Interested if there is any excess of parts. Huw
Administrators gav240z Posted July 5, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted July 5, 2020 No spares I'm afraid, but I was considering purchasing this.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-240Z-Harada-Power-Antenna-Genuine-OEM-260Z-280Z/203038904381?hash=item2f460fd03d:g:2PUAAOSwmyle9lSG Go halves? I'm still persisting with trying to take mine apart carefully. Really don't want to break anything unnecessarily.
Huw
Revisited this recently with the line trimmer. Will see how it works. still need to service the motor and. Heck gears. antenna mast was a pain. The brass connector that joins the final metal road and the plastic extender coil is a tight fit and wouldn’t go back in. Had to clean and lightly sand to get back in. I will be buying the rubber bits from 240zrubber parts. H
Administrators gav240z Posted November 11, 2020 Author Administrators Share Posted November 11, 2020 Nice, let me know how you go! I forgot about this project. I got stuck on separating the mast pieces and was afraid I'd break the antenna tip off!
Huw
Not sure what year your antenna is - but mine was a 'pointy tip' one. The antenna tip actually screwed off (which saved me from breaking it but meant that I was paranoid about it 'disappearing' in the shed (despite being labelled and in a zip lock!). This then lets you slip the final piece of the mast out. The upper sections of the mast were a pain in the neck as they are fragile but I don't appear to have destroyed it. Would be interested if you know of any source for the 'finger washer' as mine is unwell (useable...barely). Correct me if I am wrong but does it function to improve the ground for the mast? Shortly to do a rubber part order to finish this job and will then turn to the original radio. Although, I am in two minds - if I recall right it still has the original chalk marks - so I don't want to clean them off - but I do want to make sure it works. Administrators gav240z Posted January 9, 2021 Author Administrators Share Posted January 9, 2021 I need to get back to this project. I kind of shelved it when I got a job and I didn't want to break it forcing anything apart.
