Now I'm in Brisbane, shipping it to Sri Lanka is easier. Building a one is much difficult in Sri Lanka. We found two Datsun 240z, both were LHD cars (HLS 30). We manged to convert them to RHD according to the factory specs. we couldn't source a RHD steering rack. so If someone selling a steering rack please email me (chaminduudara@gmail.com). if someone outside the QLD has  a one and can arrange shipping  please contact me. thanks

Interesting - so you drive on the left there. So with LHD cars, do you have to convert them to RHD? How did your two LHD 240Zs end up there?

How did you convert them to RHD? Did you find some RHD dashboards? Presumably you have to swap the wipers across to get the correct windscreen sweep coverage?

It shouldn't be too hard to find some steering racks, but you can reckon on them being flogged out so reckon on getting new tie rod ends, inner knuckles and boots while you're here.

Glad to hear it, let us know how your RHD conversion goes and show up some pics of the cars when you get a chance. Always good to see S30Z enthusiasts in other parts of the world.

That's good news. Be aware there are some differences between steering racks from early to late Zeds, typical running changes. Hopefully not an issue in your case.

Do you have to get a 'road worthy' of some kind in Sri Lanka?

Hi, Sorry for the late reply, in Sri Lanka cars has to pass emission test to obtain Revenue Licenses. which has has to renew every year. Form this year we have to pay carbon tax for the car according to engine capacity. total of all taxes for a car, for a year sum up less than 100 AUD. For Buses and Heavy vehicle should obtain certificate something  like RWC.

In steering racks there are some differences but it is ok...

thanks again

Sounds like issues such as 'roadworthy' is even more relaxed there than in QLD. In NZ one has to get a fresh 'roadworthy' or safety check - called a 'Warrant of Fitness' - every 6 months for all vehicles including motorbikes and trailers. No WoF, then no registration, no valid insurance, and big penalties if one is caught without one. But sure does go a long way towards keeping a lot of dangerous and rusted out old piles of shit off the road.

Keep us posted. Most interesting hearing from Zed owners in less well known Zed markets. Do you have any history on your cars? Are you required to convert them to RHD (I presume not) or is it just your preference?

Are you in Brisbane for very long Chamindu? Studying or working or both?

By the new laws imposed in Sri Lanka all registering cars must be RHD ones. Car were brought from an auction not in running condition.

My wife got a scholarship from Ausi Government she will be here for 2 years and I'm planning return to Sri Lanka at the end of this month. Hopping  to visit again in end of this year.

 thanks
