AaronP Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Hey guys just wanting to find out if any one has a drivers side quarter panel cut or full quarter panel as my door slam is rather mangled from the accident it was in. Cheers Quote
Rickers Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Maybe have a talk with gav?http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16186-importing-panels-from-north-america-mostly-240z/?p=202536 Quote
AaronP Posted April 6, 2018 Author Posted April 6, 2018 had a chat with Gav he said the best idea was to import a panel as well, might be the best option other than that is attempting to straighten out my one Quote

Currently trying to get in contact with this seller.. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/d/parting-out-72-datsun-240z/6548883588.html Craigslist is always sketchy however... Quote
72240Z Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Do you have a picture of the part you need? I may have it on a 73 parts car. The only drawback is it's in the US. Quote

Rickers Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Said parts car doesn't have a rear valance panel does it? These are what he sent to me a few months back... Quote
72240Z Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Yes that's it.The valence is rusty but you said you would consider anything. The door frame and inner panel look good but the dog leg is rusty. How much do you need? I'll try to get some pictures if your interested. Rickers 1 Quote
72240Z Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Sorry I looked at the wrong drivers side. I will have to look at that side tomorrow. Quote
Rickers Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Is that your car in the picture? Here is a few more pictures of Aaron's car. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 12, 2018 Administrators Posted April 12, 2018 Yes that's it.The valence is rusty but you said you would consider anything. Hmmm it's better and worse than the 1 I'm repairing at the moment... http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/13587-rear-slam-panel-rust-repair/page-3 More photos of repair work here. https://goo.gl/photos/aoBzTdsdG81jxcRE7 My problem is I'm a perfectionist, so not entirely happy with my repairs so far. Any chance you could send more photos of the lower section? Just wondering how bad it is? Looks like a few holes in it from rust? Quote
72240Z Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Gavin I think most of the rust is where the bumper mounts on both sides, and the slam panel and two small spots under the slam. The bottom is covered in bog but doesn't look rusty. It doesn't look as bad as the one you have been working on but you never know what you have till you get the parts off. I had been watching your repair progress and was thinking about trying to fix this panel when I have more time. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 12, 2018 Administrators Posted April 12, 2018 Fair enough, sounds like it's just as bad as mine then! I would have been more careful removing mine if I thought I was gonna get stuck repairing it.. lesson learnt. Quote
72240Z Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Gavin the panel is junk, I went out to the country where the car is to get so pictures and saw a crack in the bog so I peeled it off and there is no metal under it so the whole bottom is junk. The US passenger side door slam, and inner panel is not as nice as the other side but may be usable. The front battery area is good. Quote
AaronP Posted April 13, 2018 Author Posted April 13, 2018 thank you for having a look mate its appreciated, but i have decided to give it a go and see if i can straighten my current one up. Quote
72240Z Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) Tabco makes rockers and rear wheel archs that fit well. https://tabcoparts.com/cars/datsun/240z-260z-280z-1970-1978.html Good Luck It doesn't look to rusty and looks like it is well worth fixing. Edited April 13, 2018 by 72240Z Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 13, 2018 Administrators Posted April 13, 2018 Re: rear slam panel thanks. I know osmeone after the battery tray area (opposite side to US cars). That section. I may also be interested in a cut out of the firewall. It's not a huge section and I could probably fabricate it, but if it's not too much hassle I can show you what I need. Looks like the roof is gone. I'm guessing there isn't much left that's of use? Just thinking if it's a carcass may as well pick the bones dry. ? Quote
72240Z Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 The roof is off and good. I still have it. I bought the car for the firewall to repair my car. The battery tray looks good but may have rust in the seam I won't know until I remove it. I was going to try to use most of the firewall but have backed off that idea and will only be using parts of it. What part do you need? Quote
kamarchi Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I am after the left hand side inner guard where the battery tray would be attached in a RHD car. Can i get some pictures of that area less the leaves? Thanks Quote
72240Z Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 It may be a few days before I can get any more pictures, Gavin what part of the firewall do you need? gilltech I have never seen one like it either, it may not be factory. Quote
