Chris'Z Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Hello it's a long shot but does anybody have a set of 240zg headlight covers, the fairlady and 240z badges and a set watanabes to suit zg flares. I know it's a long shot but thought I'd ask before I start trawling yahoo auctions. Cheers Chris Quote
TomC18 Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Sinisha and I got headlight covers from Mark Clapp in the States, approx $200USD inc postage - they look good but need a bit of trimming (he makes them big so they can be fitted precisely) mclapp5526 at gmail dot com Quote
Riceburner Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Hey Chris, found these while looking. I got my ones from this exact seller many years ago now. Looks to be a good price too. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t516815590 Genuine 240zg badges. Danger money! https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/v502607902 I would love to see more details on the build! Quote
Chris'Z Posted June 16, 2017 Author Posted June 16, 2017 Thanks for that. I did find those badges and cringed a little. Didn't find the covers though they look great. At this stage the build is lots of amazing rust repairs and straightening by Paul. But I'll put up a build journal soon. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 (edited) I have those headlight covers on my Z-G. The metal trim doesn't look the same as the original ones but they are pretty good. Edited June 17, 2017 by d3c0y Quote

The ones I got from this seller we advertised as NOS (with a price to match) and came in Nissan boxes. They also had black tape over the stainless trim rings as well as a self adhesive sponge seal on the lenses. Do you know how the trim differs? I'd like to see if I've been rolled. d3c0y Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 (edited) The genuine trims are stainless steel and are flat on the top and the repros are more rounded and have a chrome finish. The price on the auction you linked is genuinely what the reproduction ones go for, although they say the trims are FRP and mine are definitely metal. Its the kind of thing that once you see them in person, it's pretty easy to tell but only the discerning zed enthusiast is probably going to pick. Riceburner Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Thanks Jake, that clears it up. The FRP sounds a little strange, so would be worth asking the question first. IMO, I can't tell the difference between mine and yours from the pics I have seen on the car. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Have you got a close up pics of your trims? I have some close ups so we can put them side by side if you like. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Don't worry Gareth you have the real ones! See mine are not flat on the top? https://goo.gl/photos/eooRhJqhZoZbgFQA7 Quote
d3c0y Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Not in person, the profile is more evident and the chrome is really shiny compared to the polished stainless of the OEM. Quote
