I installed a Direct clutch sprung ceramic into a 400rwhp V12 E type jag and it handled the monstrous torque no problems and was light as a feather to drive around town.

To reduce pedal effort on a big single they adjust the mechanical leverage rate but as the clutch wears it can lose that effect, I found that big singles wore pretty quickly too. The last clutch I used was an Exedy twin with sprung centres, it was really nice to use and with a much bigger total surface area did not wear anywhere near as quickly. I liked the slight clutch rattle at idle, race car!

Utter bollocks.

It's got more to do with the contraction of the pressure plate & friction plate Vs how much it wears.

Also yours is used mostly in competition, correct Richard?

Bit of a different kettle of fish...

For the 'L33' I just sold, it had Jim Berry build a 240mm 2600lbs pressure plate with a organic race '6 spring' friction plate.

Les has used these before & apparently they are only marginally heavier than a HD unit.

For the new build, Jim has somehow managed to acquire a magnesium Ferrari pressure plate...

Utter bollocks to you too lurcher, Jim Berry explained and showed me at his workshop what he did to increase clamping pressure and reduce pedal effort, the simple fact is that among other things he changes leverage. There is no magic involved, if you disagree then enlighten us all.

He does a good single plate as do DCS but in my experience the sprung centre twin plate Exedy is nicer to use and more durable. And more expensive.
