aircobra Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 came across this thread http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/8138-what-are-these-electrical-switches-on-280zx-box/ i think i have the same g.box. lurch said it came from a non turbo 280 the text says its the one with bullet connectors, but i can;t make it in the photo. is it the ones closest to the clutch hole? i've tested them all and they're all "open" when reverse is selected Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 (edited) Remove the switch from the g/box.Plug the wires in.Turn on the ignition system.Activate the ball in on the end of the switch. If the reverse lights stay off, the switch works. If they stay on, it's faulty. You could also test it with a multi meter out of the car.Make sure you install the switch into the correct hole, which will probably be the bottom one (5th/Rev rail). If you can't handle all this, I suggest you stake up stamp collecting. dat2kman Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 Check your reverse lamp Earths. As well. The passage of years can play havoc with electricals that lie dormant. Quote
aircobra Posted April 18, 2017 Author Posted April 18, 2017 all good, thanks for the stamp collecting advice - that sounds too mechanically intense for me it was oil inside the bullet connectors under the car, so resoldered a new set and as good as gold don't know what the other sensors are for - i think someone said its for neutral and 5 th gear?
