nizm0zed Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 It looks very agricultrual.I dont see any mounting point for a handbrake caliper (if you have willwoods fitted)Not sure about that rear strut mounting, I'd hope they weld the strut onto the mounting plate with more than what looks like 4 tack welds.If they were to crack there is nothing at all to stop the strut from swinging clean in the breeze.Also, in Peter's Pic (Gordo posted it) to me it looks like the inner arm mounts on the tubes have the potential to rotate around in their mountings changing the arm geometry, I also dont really like the look of the front diff mounts, it seems like the diff would be able to flex them up or down fairly easily, It should be one solid mount, not 2 separate mounts.It kind of looks like they are already mounted a bit crooked, pointing the diff nose angle upwards.not saying its crap, I just personally would have done it a bit differently... 260DET Posted March 17, 2017 Author Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) Well bugger me, the hub part is listed by AZ as one of it's latest products, duh to me Agree that it does look a bit agricultural, using a short nose R200? is a good move though, agree that the AZ front diff mounts are not the best but it would not be that difficult to make up a separate mount bolted to the chassis. The body of the hub part could be cut down a bit too and some large holes bored to allow better air circulation around the rotors and allow the mounting of handbrake calipers too. Plenty of metal there. The struts would be S chassis types by the look of it, no problem there, they bolt on and there are heaps of damper options available. All in all I reckon in total it's a damn great option for a race car, am guessing that it's possible to adjust the roll centre and the rigidity of the complete assembly will allow the dampers to work more responsively and for the geometry to remain stable under high loadings. The hub/brake mount plate has the ability to mount their mechanical handbrake, which, is almost as usefull as an ashtray on a motorbike. Another good reason not to use the supplied diff front mount arrangement. The basic problem faced by any US designer is that for their market it has to be all bolt on, that does not mean that we can't improve on their products eg here the diff front mount brackets could be modified to be used as an additional pivot tube support. The good thing I see is that this product ticks all the difficult bits boxes with only DIY stuff to be done to make it work a whole lot better. What alternative products are there Jason? Quote
