Custom fuel cell for the project Z, silicone is available in various diameters, proper fuel hose not so. Am thinking of general purpose silicone hose like is used for radiator and intake hoses.

Hi,

No not a good idea.

To the best of my knowledge petrol will slowly disolve the silicon.

Cheers

I agree.  It will be OK for a time but will cause you problems in the long run.

Hi

Rather then spend ages crawling through wrecks looking for the right hose maybe try this, it worked for me on a previous project.

- Grab the longest piece of filler hose (with the correct ID) that you can find.

- Get some appropriately sized stainless exhaust pipe (get it bent to shape)

- A few hose clamps.

- Use the hose at each end and the exhaust pipe in the middle

Just a thought

our local industrial supplies joint has silicone hose in pretty much any size you needed, We used to use it between the fuel tanks, its rated for diesel and petrol.
Im not sure who would be local to you, but a quick look at google would probably tell you.
Definitely cant use the 'retail' blue or black type of hose normally used on intakes, the silicone breaks down in the fuel and the particles clog up your filter and pump.
