Andrew_L26 Posted June 6, 2016 Share Posted June 6, 2016 Hi all, So I'm doing my oil pan gasket at the moment and my oil pan has this thing on it (well the black part anyway) I'm wondering what the point of it is as it only goes around one corner of the oil pan. dat2kman Posted June 6, 2016 Share Posted June 6, 2016 There are a couple of bits of this, It helps spread the load of the bolts and helps to make a better seal of the gasket, usually installed dry. If using sealant, ( Three Bond is best) no real need for them, but seal both sides of gasket Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
