aircobra Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 my car came with a 280 non-turbo 5 speed (i think) and what looks like a standard console i believe the gearlever for this box sits more forward then standard and thus the cuts in the tunnel - see here https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/26061801856/in/dateposted-public/ however, it looks like the back of the console has been messed with, so the question is that wit the centre screw aligned like this https://www.flickr.com/photos/62957688@N08/26061791786/in/dateposted-public/ or will the gearstick, which is bent clear the plastic surround? the rear holes have been fiberglassed over Quote
d3c0y Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 You just need the S shaped S30 shifter and it should work fine. 280ZXs still had 71B gearboxes, just a straight shifter. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted March 29, 2016 Moderators Posted March 29, 2016 HI, Decoy is on the money. When I put the 280ZX box in my car the 280ZX gearlever was hitting the front of the console. I grabbed a 260Z shifter and that fixed the problem. Cheers PB Quote
aircobra Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 is this the shifter? also looks like i got a 280 rubber, so i'll have to make the opening a little bit bigger at the front and then it will fit is there supposed to be ring on the top of the rubber to keep it down or just some bolts and washers? Moderators PB260Z Posted March 29, 2016 Moderators Posted March 29, 2016 (edited) Hi Mate You will neec to trim the hole in the floor fowards to front edge of double sheet section. You will also find that there are marks in the tunnel that align with the holes in the rubber. Drill them out and fit some nutserts and everything will align perfectly. The shift boot retainer ring looks like this. http://www.zcarsource.com/inner-shift-boot-ring-240z-260z-280z-72-78-used_8_56359_61472.html Cheers PB Edited March 29, 2016 by PB260Z Quote
