ilbert Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Car has developed what I think is an ignition issue. When cold tacho fluctuates wildly when backing off throttle. On throttle revs as usual. After around 10 mins of driving settles to normal. 280zx dizzy, electronic ignition, Bosch coil. Recently replaced alternator with new one with no external regulator. Alternator doesn't start charging before about 1500 rpm. The tacho / suspected ignition problem did not occur until around a year of almost daily driving after the alternator replacement. Any thoughts gurus? Quote
dat2kman Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Fit new condensors to back of Alt and to dizzy. Test. Quote
ilbert Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 No condensers - electronic ignition. Cleaned rotor button and dizzy contacts - problem gone. Should have tried this before posting, but didn't have time - was heading away for the weekend, anyway nice easy fix. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 1, 2016 Moderators Posted February 1, 2016 Hi, Glad it was a simple fix. You are not the first person to a confounding problem turn out to be something simple (and cheap) Cheers PB Quote
